Could you supply a screenshot of the issue?
Are you using any 3rd part program to generate the transparency or shadows? That screens looks like a alpha blending issue that could be caused by that custom transparency.

To hide the user picture, you need to open the skin on SkinStudio, once there, go to the start menu section, Edit start menu > Top > go to the Extra Settings tab, there you will find "hide user picture", activate that and save the skin.
To have custom fonts (that support shadows) in you start menu you have to set the fonts on the panels sections and remove any font settings from the start menu "menu item" section as they cannot be used together. One point: Set font on the start menu panels instead of set them on the menu items is not the best method as this is the old XP way, Windows Vista and Windows 7 skin the start menu in a different way and also threat its fonts in a different way, use the old met

The different toolbar buttons behave between skins against Adobe programs could be based on the way the skinner makes its skin, some programs (the more modern ones) use Windows Vista/Windows 7 guidelines for its controls, so the newer model have toolbar buttons with 6 states instead of 5, used in the older XP Explorer. I don't agree with all points, I've been on Mac for a while and as a designer (it's will always be based in our daily tasks/needs) I find Mac OSX quite superior to Windows 7 in the usability/user experience, the UI is minimal, staying out of the way but yet powerful with some features Windows 7 lack by default. The Way the OS work with the apps is far superior too (again based in my experiences), in the same Macbook when running OSX, I can have Photos

I really hope things get better, I'm loosing the faith a little bit and yes, iOS is a very attractive field I've being entering too. I just wish other OD apps got all the love that WindowBlinds and DeskScapes get, but not being updated only over the years to go compatible but getting new directions, blowing my mind away like they used to do in the past.

Precision skin was pulled out of WB for a while, then where updated with Windows 7 bits and got new (more recent) WB sections to serve as example if any skinner have doubts on the new sections. More skins with new features coming very soon.
