Well, it may work with the DS more than any of the other portables. Playing turned based games on a portable has the advantage of allowing the player to play and not play as needed instead of worrying about dieing mid battle..etc due to something coming up. Played FF Tactics and others of its style on my gameboy advanced and they are lots of fun for those times a computer is miles away. Porting GalCiv2 onto a DS may be worthwhile once its fully completed (done tinkering to t

I use Opera, but found this forum does not like it. Fix - use Opera for everything else, installed and use Firefox for this site. I have no problems posting or loading this site - unless the server itself is down - since moving to firefox. I hope that this site is setup to work better with Opera eventually but it feels like a lost cause.. I just love the mouse gestures! simple and easy... Its interesting you mentioned that Opera uses lots of memory....
CariElf and Lord Reliant, The issues you mentioned is interesting... I generally have the game running full screen but minimized while doing something else and come back etc. Have it up several days, but occasionaly I would check on my computer and the game would not be running. It is as if the game ended, no errors. This happens about once 3 days of continuously running...alt-tab back and forth. Had the game be closed when I get to my system about 3 to 4 time
Just keep on playing..... The AI does not cheat except above Tough. I can beat AI in colony rush fairly easily so far up to painful - working my way up, my games take a while due to time constraints. In my current game, Painful, Gigantic, One below abundant stars (forgot the name), Abundant planets, and 9 opponents - no problem beating them in rushing to planets and colonizing. Beating the AI in most all categories and overall number 1 at this time... only 3 years into
I saw the same thing. No problem with worlds that are conquered but world given by the UP comes up without any pq enhancements. The neutral tile enhancement is not taken into account for worlds given from UP event.
But the good's defenses balances that. The Neutral research balances that. As a neutral, I fought evil races with evil weapons and won. It just depends on using the benefits of the neutral alignment. Same thing for good or evil. This is on tough and now working on painful. Granted they are not giving me much of a hard time but thats why I'm going up the difficulty ladder. If you think the AI is too easy with the ethics, try a harder difficulty.
The Planetary Governors only work by upgrading existing buildings as you research. It will not build for you. Setup the buildings exactly as you want and afterwards you dont have to worry about upgrading them except for the Neutral research center.
Concur very much... Please add disable autoscrolling. Going through many planets in list can be tedious when it auto scrolls to the top for changing ship building or going into and looking at a planet. This occurs in both the colonies screen and the quick planets list screen.
Texas is the best state Dallas is the best of that Weather has been cool so its the perfect time to be in Dallas. Enjoy your vacation and forget about the demanding users for a while. Of course, we expect you to work twice as hard when you get back <img src="http://images.stardoc
These rant posts are so misleading... People are typing something thats plausible to put their point across but anyone who knows about it knows that its wrong. To counter it, people have to post another rant. I played Civ 4 I saw the problems the game had and checked the forums to check out whats getting fixed. I like the game but it was far from rosy. There were lots of issues with crashs, incompatibility, and many that others here posted. If you w
Psio... I almost wrote a rant like you due to some inaccuraces in your posts...but I'll just make it simple. If you dont like it fine, we are all entitled to opinions. Dont flame others because they do and if you flame, at least put down valid reasons... Comparing MMOs to this game where as some mentioned all support after the fact is cost doesnt work. Also, SWG supporting its players... I laughed at that. I guess your not one of the people who's posts were be
I only build small hulls for port defense initially in the game. Medium and up for combat. Get the eye of the universe - very important! so no need for any sensors. Initlally - depending on enemy weapon - armor/shield/point with specialized weapon. Later - all 3 armor/shield/point at 20/18/20 with spec weapon or multi weapon. Takes down all enemy ships with little to no loses... Well, after initial ramp up of ships
As Marcathonas said, Military is the final factor on whether they will attack you or not. I haven't timed this or really looked at it, but after the start and research, there is a time frame about quarter of the way into the game in which you have to build up the military. Keep your eye on your diplomacy and the military graph. You can see when the other races start the arms race. At this time, you need to have a strong
Well, its more true that your capacity has hit the ceiling of your revenue. You may have more capacity that you do not have money to spend on.... The way its setup, you really can not tell except to increase your taxes and look at the spending in military, social, and research. If the spending in them continues to go up, then you have more capacity versus revenue. Its just the percentage sliders on military, social, and
Reboot your computer. It seems to be a known issue with upgrading to the betas
This has been discussed many times in the forums, but since most people use IE, old version of firefox, Opera - I use opera, people have problems with the forums - my observation. I installed Firefox 1.5.0.2 - well 1.5.0.1 but it got auto updated - and it works perfectly with the forum. Install that and use it to read/post on the forums and you should not run into any problems. Running opera/firefox, just due to this game <br
As people have posted, the most problem I have with the AI - they do not use bonus tiles. Thats it. Before complaining, please try tough or higher on a gigantic map with 9 opponents. Try everything on abundant. The AIs ability to mulitask really shows here, though past a certain point I can use it to my advantage. Tough - AI at best without cheats, above tough - ai gets econ bonus only. My second game on
Slider to 100% military means you are not spending any bc on research or social. So all planets will produce 0 research. No bc is spent on labs. 100% on military with nothing being built, it uses no money and it goes into treasury. Military - not building anything, no bc spent. Social - nothing being built, it goes to military, and if military has nothing - nothing spent.
I tend to put factories on most worlds even those without starports. Reason: they speed up the build time of upgrades. Once everything is upgraded, you can always upgrade the factories and I think they give the bonus until upgraded. Hmm, something to check. Depending on the amount of planets, set several planets to key specialization but keep some diverisified. Too lazy to go through all of them to change the setup but w
Basically what Franco fx said. The only part I'm not sure of is using the full capacity of military, social, and research. Spending at 100%. Sliders at 33/34/33 If you have money to burn, will that use the full capacity of military, social, and research? It would be better if the sliders are set for 100% for each production and research so we can be sure of spending 100% on them with a very good economy.
Check your economy to see if it can support the higher production values. Thats the part some people misunderstand about this game, production is linked to economy. if economy can pay 100%, all production - military, social, and research that you have will work at 100% depending on the slider of mil, soc, res ... of course, though the slider and the % used of each I'm not too sure about. If you pay less, it uses that portion of all milit

There are a couple of things to try.... Make sure you dont have any spyware/starforce..etc. I know its a new setup but still.... Check the video drivers and make sure its not set up to control the video d3d/opengl settings and its using the game settings instead. Run scandisk - called error checking now, it is remotely possible that there is a bad sector on the drive causing a problem. Also, run the system in
Installed Beta 3. Launched game. No text displays in game. The new game, metaverse..etc icons are there and works but the text overlay is gone. Went through the menus and same issue. Too bad I dont have a photographic memory... I know the first thing to come to mind on many is update drivers and so I shall, but it is interesting that this problem occurred after installation of beta3. I wonder where the pro
