What I really feel bad about, it's that Obama's options are restricted by the "Nixon goes to China" paradox. He will take a lot of flak by striking a deal with Iran even if a good one's on the table. A Hawk president has an easier time making peace. A Dove president has an easier time making war. But sometimes, they have to do what they gotta do for the best of the US. So, what do you think is in the best interest of the US, seeing Russia's resurgence?

I RANIAN PRESIDENT MAHMOUD AHMADINEJAD said Tuesday he would be sending U.S. President Barack Obama a letter, the contents of which would be made public in the coming days. In a live interview on state television, Ahmadinejad said that Iran was the “only chance&
America was at war with most of the native tribes, and they were killing citizens of the new country.
Yes, but then again, they were killing pioneers of the new country. Your established centers weren't menaced themselves. And more often than not, the most efficient way of dealing with them was simply to arm your local milia well rather than doing an all-out government intervention (except for a few large-scale military campaign, but even then, it was the US who were mo
Ummm...not all, as I was not ready to jump until I got more information. It was plausible (as there is a history of it), but there was more speculation than facts initially reported.
Actually, I wasn't targetting you specifically. I actually find you quite reserved in your jugement and open-minded about other's opinion, even if you don't accept anything for face value (which is a good thing).
LIKE - he would never sell out!!!!!
And as far as I know, the current Russian leadership don't either. They are extremely disciplined and loyal to their own cause (albeit some internal strife, obviously)
Update. Probably nothing to do with politics.
Surprise surprise. Remember what I wrote here:
Or it was a group of drunk people looking to make trouble. You are all jumping the gun.
And then, Chuck answered:
And you're looking for excuses. It seems neither of us is willing to accept either.
Ain't you all disapointed that the your political opponents aren't monsters after all? I stand by my init
America made itself that way, but back then, there were more enemies than any European Country had. And still the statement was made. And yes, I still believe it even if I was living in 18th century America.
But most of your ennemies could reach you only by sea, and that's a menace that your formal military (navy) have to deal with outside of your native ground. The only "real" ennemy that could take your territory was Mexico, and we all know what happened when yo
That is not to say that Russia is all sweetness and light. We saw what they did to Georgia and Obama. They are not to be trusted, but they are not supermen either
Indeed. They are no Superman, they are Cnl Fury.
DRMiler was right. IN Oct of 2006, the economy was doing great. The seeds had been planted for the banking crises, but it was going well then and would have continued until the democrats regained control.
Aww.. come on. My economic teachers were pointing to the inherent disastrous structure of your economy going as far back as 2005. The whole mortgage speculation and securitisation was a bomb ready to blow. Your real estate sector was exploding in a surnatural bubble.</
I see why you are not an American. Before the time of dinosaurs, slates, and my college days, an American said "those who would sell their freedom for security, will find out they have neither".
Those are easy words for those who live in a land as naturally safe as the USA. Because your land is so naturally safe, it is easy to put freedom above safety. About a form of government... hmm.. What do you think of the one proponed in Starship Troopers? (the b
I think Health care belies your statement. The government is a bunch of self important blow hards who do what THEY want which is not always what we want or why we elected them.
Hey, you got the system that you voted for. (not talkin' about the party, but the system )
No link, but I believe she's referring to the gal who had the 'B' carved on her face (by herself).
Exactly. I was looking for the word to use. Is "mutilation" the right word for carving somebody's face? (this is a 100% no-sarcastic comment. I am not sure of my english about that one)
HEY!! Great news! I just found this article back! I am sure Drmiller is eating his words about the economy. [e digicons]:D[/e] But, in retrospective, I am also quite glad to see that, starting 2007, things have improved in Iraq. Gate sur did a helluva job as secretary of Defense, and Petraeus is more than talented general leading your troops. However, please remember that Gate only got appointed after the electoral defeat of the GoP in 2006 (liter
Looks like now it might not have been pins, but no doubt it was politically motivated.
Or it was a group of drunk people looking to make trouble. You are all jumping the gun. How does one know they said anything racist?
Because somebody seems to have been
Cikomyr, What do you think of this picture?
Obama was probably preaching to Harper about how to be a decent human being. Something Harper is desperately in need of.
How does one knows they were targeted for wearing Palin buttons? I mean, there are plenty of (bad, as in "unjustified") reasons why someone would beat up to young people. Also, do you have another news source than a religiously-driven news source?
No one ever said government was run smartly.
I wasn't ranting against you. I do not shoot the messenger :) I was ranting about the stupid definition.
Cikomyr, ok, tell me this. Why was it so important for you to know the socioeconomic breakdown in a statistic where that isn't an issue?
Because I wanted to know what qualifies a "poor" people, income-wise, in the USA, and if the breakdown was before or after the 47%. If you happened to HAVE a fixed limit of income defining "poor", and not simply taking the X% poorest and defining them as the "poor" class of a nation, that would have been limited. In the end, I

I always wondered exactly why Central Asia was cut in a more byzantine way than your average jigsaw puzzle... Oh well, food for thought. This article is to remember everybody that Russia is the most active antagonist to your country right now, and they hold many cards in their hands. Right now, it is Russia's game to lose, not the U.S.'s. They have played their hand very well in the past 5 years, and they start to harvest the ripe fruits of their effort. I am really wondering
Wait a minute! You seem to have missed the last eight or nine years of history. Pakistan helped create the Taliban after the attacks on 9/11 we asked Pakistan to stand with us against them. A lot of diplomatic effort was used to get them to reverse their national policy to join us. The left made it easier for the people supporting the Taliban to oust the President allowing the Taliban to not just survive but threaten the current political leadership of Pakistan If we lose Pakistan we h
They can forget about anyone supporting their claim to return their territory, and they can forget about being admitted into NATO. The US did not have a military alliance with Georgia, nice try though
Nice try to you. You completely skipped over the mention that the USA already proved to be innefectual about their defense of Georgia when Russia invaded in 2008. If the USA really wanted to back up Georgia, they would do so regardless of the new S
