there is a population cap on a planet of about 20 million x (PQ + 1)^3 or something like it, whatever farm you put on the planet.

Maybe the english's reviews are mostly dones, but I am still waiting for www.jeuxvideo.com to take out a french review. As I remember, they said high praise about GC1 (which incited me to download the demo, and the demo conviced me to buy the game, which I sporadicly played for over 3 years. The best 30$ spent on a game). Do you plan on translating the game in french any time soon? Specially if you can create a french version of StarDock to download the game, and can convince the majo
Nasa doesnt build more space shuttles when our construction industry slows down... No, but the U.S. build more weapons when the industry slows down. Which is Military spending.. Anyway, I feel that I am split between the #2-3-4. 4, because I often come up with some crazy idea about new system in the game (cycled trade routes,
We are the simulated characters of a global game some cosmic kid is playing. And He is Called God. Amen Ser
I always though usefull, when I begin to specialize my colonies (and play with a LOT of planet) to always mark every colony names with a letter before the Colony's name. M = Money Colony R = Research F = Factory I = Influence Helps a lot when you wonder "what did I wanted to do with this planet?"
- If a 2d map is 60 x 60, then by no way the 3d map would also be 60x60x60! Too much stuff! When you get to the3rd dimension, I guess the good things would be to create a sphere with about 40 sectors of diameter. You know, so that the map wouldn't be "that" big, but it would give a 3d feel. After all, it would be kinda cool/weird to be in the MIDDLE of 8 empires, from all axis! - (I know it's off-topic, but what do you think of "same turn"?)
It would be a lot better if we had a 3d map (and circular. When you reach the top-layer, you get to the bottom-one). The difference between zoomed-in and zoomed-out would be much the same than Homeworld's. It's not "that" difficult to consider, after all. "Sphere of influence" would be real-spheres. Now, that is something I have never seen: a 4X game in 3d. (2-morrow, 1 great game) (And while we are on the topic of weir
Maybe in the Good Vs Neutral Vs Evil, but not in other games After all, while I played human, I had historic friendship with Drengins
I still happen to beat the AI with my faster hunting pack of 4 frigates, 2 Warp engines and ONLY weapons on each. At the first hits in a war, this is the best strategy. The AI did not adapted to your weaponry, so it defenses are low, and you can usually wipe most of its fleet in the first strike. After, even if they hit you, they don'T hold for long. Never underestimate first strike. Like AD&D: Initiative is the key to close-call battles Until they use adapted d
Can't you already play as drengin, and be good?
I created once a custom race with red as interface color. Could not differenciate me from the Drengins.. was kinda weird. Specially on the "timeline" screen
after conquering a Drengin World with a custom race (United Federation, used one of the new logo! , the conquered world had a HUGE population, too huge to be even possible, with 100% approval rating, and all.. (and counting 75000 bcs of taxes).. I only cheated once in this game, and it was ages ago, for a +10 000 bc, so I don't think it the bug's reason. The next week, the planet *only* had 17billions of population (kn
But the thing that really gets me, the thing that I can't get over, is the effete tech tree. All the improvements are buffs on existing abilities, you never get any new ones. Going to the top of the beam tech tree means you have a bigger version of the exact same thing at the bottom. Big whoop. Instead of getting 50x 1 beam you get 1 x 50beam. YAWN. No range increase, n

He doesn't? Oops.. wait a sec.. (Go take back Lecter! He lied!)
Is this a firm "no"?

I agree 100%, the one that bothers me the most are Altarians. They always want to go on a "rightgeous crusade" on the weakest evil civ around. Or they like to gang up on me, with the other good civs.. arg. I just loved it when the Torian surrendered to the Drengin, at the last game. Now, instead of being neighbour of only me and the Torian, they were sorrounded by my and my closest ally
If they keep the same rate of improvement than they did from 1 to 2, I have NO objection on letting them 2 to 3.. then 3 to 4. But then, if they ever improve that far, the AI will takeover the (real) world to not loose anymore...
still, a PQ of 100 could make you rich past your best dreams. Think of the economical power you have with 20x(100+1)^3 million tax payers
Hey, cloaking device for planets and stars
2 things (one I mentionned in another post, but no one seemed to answer) 1: I want a Mapbrush, like Blizzard made for Starcraft. You can not only paint a map and choosing starting positions, but you could also customize the building already built, the # of technology already researched, the ships already on the map, etc.. And creating "mission objective" would be a must. Let's do more than "star with a colony ship + a planet + a survey vessel and conquer the galaxy". You could create
Consumed Crustacean (strange name) got a point there. But maybe, indeed, there should be some in-game limits according to your party. After all, how could a Technologist party reduce its research below 25%? Or a Pacifist party leader declare war? or a Mercantile party leader leave U.P.?
the game can recocknize fractionnal value. ex: I had a +20% boost on weapon/armor. When I managed to have 5 weapons on my starships, I got +1 of bonus. You will get the % of your attack or defense rating, always rounded down.
You forgot the great special effect that comes with the beam weapons
