ThijsK : have you ever heard of private chat chanells? a seprate window for each deal, not too confiseing, and if you can't remember them all, take notes or something. Diplomacy like in Civ 4 is ok when you're talking to AI's, but when I'm talking to another human I'd be hugely disapointed if I couldn't trade 100 sheep for blueprints for a self sustaning mine/smelter/farm/house. Or offer an allience to anyone who proves their worth by takeing over a certain terrotory with a maximum of 100

I was thinking about curancy, for player to player trade. Anyone else think that we, the players should be incharge of printing, distributing and providing value to currencies inside the game?

Chat is enough to create deals just provided you have complex options, such as give 10% of all swords produced for 5 days to player X. The fact that the other player just may screw you shouldn't be deved out, instead players should find their way around it, reputation based systems, viliante justice, etc.

About attacking offline opponents, I've allways believed in players solving problems like this. After starting my MMO life with A Tail In the Desert its not suprising. So how about there simply is a simple Treaty system: Players can write and sign a custom treaty, all players get a copy added to their treaty library. Sample treaty: ------------------------------------------ Deceleration of War: We players A,B & C hearby declare war on player

I can't see why we need bonuses or penalties, your society will be growing just fine without you. Anyway this penalties/rewards shouln't be considered untill after beta testing says some are needed

Fistly supplys should be from the nearest source of supplys, not the capital. Its just logical. Mercanaries should not be "included" in the game, IMO its far more fun for people to ask another player to wipe out empire X rather than some AI troops.

Perhaps if you published something it would help avoid being called vaporware. For example a detialed guide on how you can customise your buildings. I'd like to read that

Kid gloves isn't ture. The only time I can think of a real problem from being insensitive was cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed as a suicide bomber, it would be hard to do anything that bad ingame. Of-course non-real religions should be used just encase and for flexibility. Personally I think there are two ways to handle religion ingame and I'm not sure whats better: 1) the alimated churge of real and medeling de

One thing MOO 3 did right was the backstory, its the size of a small book and its the only time I have *ever* seen the overdone precursors being used correctly, heck even Star Controll 2 didn't do it as well as MOO 3. Essentually it did two things that no one else did: 1) They had a name, I don't think you could leave artifacts over a galaxy and not leave your name. 2) They had a history, weather that means they wern't "precu

I was thinknig, what if all the royal family members, in adition to stats that govern the land, had stats for their power on the battlefield. Probobly set up so you can't have someone good at charging the enermy and sitting on the throne. If this is used I'd rather they had good dogeing/blocking skills rather than huge HP and if surounded the blocking skills, and the horse it rode in on are out the window

On the gamespy article, see the link it says we can design our own look for our civilisation, whats your planed look, a genral jist of mine: Buildings will look like pyramids that have many diffrent colours, these colours a constantly changeing, a few buildings will look totally out of place and very down to earth. The ground near the buildings will look like a beach, a bit further and you reach shallow water then after that, just
