Yup! The problem can be solved if you write an e-mail to stardock support in which you describe the problem. Worked for me. They'll want to know your current serial number, but will send you two functioning product keys. The new patches will switch the language back to english, which is a great improvement compared to the admittedly hilarious translation. Hope I could be of any help. Enjoy your game.

Ok, another addition to this thread: Same Problem with the german retail version of Galciv Gold. Can't update because the registration key on the backside of the game manual (the only one...) isn't accepted as a valid s/n by Stardock Central. A little help in this matter would be appreciated. :(
