I think it should be illegal to put software on someone's computer without their knowledge. Heck, it probably is illegal if someone brings them to court for privacy violations... I know a law won't prevent most sites from trying to install spyware but at least it would hold major corporation like sony who do such things accountable.
The idea of having people pay for skins was an idea of another way to raise money for the site. It somebody who is hesitant about spending a lot of money at once on the site buys a 3$ skin twice a month then they end up spending about 70$ a year on the site, the same amount that they would spend buying ObjectDesktop and a subscription.
