A suggestion for anyone else wanting to run older games ( although it wont apply here because he lost the autorun.exe/setup.exe ). Create a shortcut to the SETUP.EXE and set it to run in compatability mode for whatever ( 95, 98, blah blah ). Run that, then run the actual program in compatability mode. I realize this doesn't help you, but I find it very useful in running old games. And it's very easy.

The basic ship designs are located in - "C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Data\ShipCfg" - (but you knew that already, right?) - Does changing any of those work?
