Great topic Po', though it seems I've found this thread a couple months late Being an admin on a gaming league, I and my cohorts find ourselves dealing with a similar type of flamers, nay-sayers, and cheats. The "scum of the internet" as I think of them. We've found that one effective way of dealing with them is simply leading by example. For those few that just can't

Po', if you've done the same thing with your window borders as you did with the start menu, meaning, made an image of what you intend the final result to be... Flip back over to Part 2 and check my comment there. Might be helpful for you? Just keep at it. You'll learn more from mistakes than you will from success, and be that much better for it!

Po', thinking about it a bit, what I've done to get small parts of a larger image is to use the rectangular marquee tool in Photoshop in conjunction with the Info palette window. This lets you drag open an area exactly the size you need. Move the marquee to cover the area you want to use then copy. Open a new image using the clipboard preset and paste in your selection. You can then save it as a .bmp, .png, .tga, or whatever format you prefer. It's wor

*eagerly awaits the next installment* Looking this over, how exactly is that shiny effect (the top of the menu and the heart) produced? I've tried some things using soft brushes (doesn't work) and with gradients and the selection tool (close, but never quite the effect I want). It's probably insanely easy, but feel I've missed something somewhere...

From my consumer's point of view, and previous dealings with both AOL and Time Warner... ANYTHING that could potentially eliminate AOL and put a dent in Time Warner by providing fast and reliable internet service at a reasonable cost sounds fantastic to me. That's assuming that TW doesn't latch it's greedy hands on it first.

I'm curious about the " App-name has encountered a problem and needs to close." dialog. Is it still the same? Has there at least been an option added to re-start the program/application? I'd love to see the option to get more specifics on what that problem actually is as related to local configuration.

Since the issue seems to revolve around music, and not "widgets", I'm going to stick with the music issue. 1) I haven't bought any music CD's in years. Why? they tend to be over-priced for the one or two songs on the album that I would actually listen too. 2) Those few songs that I do find worth exposing my damaged ears to generally can be heard on the radio (for free) or downloaded using software (paid-for). Since I don't usually burn them

Sounds like a firewall issue. I had all kinds of problems with Norton's security suite. It wouldn't allow Firefox, Wincustomize browser, IconX, and some other stuff to do the things they were programmed to do. It all went away when I went back to my preferred firewall vendor. Might not be your problem, but I'd say it's worth checking into.

Bought this tower back in 2002. It's my 1st and only. I've since done several upgrades; more RAM, another HDD, video card, some misc stuff, and most recently a motherboard replacement/upgrade. Most likely she'll hang in for a couple more years.

Welcome to 2006!!!!!!!!! Let's all hope it outshines 2005 like a spotlight on a birthday candle. Best thing about 2005 for me was finding Wincustomize. (no butt-kissing intended)

If it doesn't work; it's broken. If it's broken; get a new one. There's other ad-supported (aka free) website hosts out there. 250free comes to mind, but I'm biased - hates the sidebar geocities adds to pages. Quick .. click that thing off!

Thanks Kupotek. Until then I'll be searching through as many relevant articles I can find. Dare I hope that someone would volunteer to answer a few questions along the way? As stated before, I didn't mean to bash the article. I did find it informative and enjoyable... Heads off in search of clues to successful cursor animation... 1st attempt being totally unsatisfactory <img src="http://images.stardock.com

Very objective, quite thorough, and highly informative. Being a denizen of one of those "nasty" places on the net, your objectivity towards competitors and those who "regularly nip" on you is refreshing. Thank you for that. On my side of things, the article just wasn't what I was hoping for. Certainly not "Eve

Here's one from my fiance just today. Went to her mother's to print some pics. Mother asks her to copy a file off a floppy. she called me asking what to do. Problem: floppys don't auto-load like a CD or DVD. Solution: Start Menu>MyComputer>3 1/2 Floppy(A:)> Locate file. ..Next question was, "OK, how do I print this?" Love her, what would sh
