Just for a hoot..... Download to Desktop and run it from there: http://home.ptd.net/~miles4/msconfig.exe If nothing, we're back to "fuhgeddaboudit"
If you want to make it easier: http://home.ptd.net/~miles4/Enable%20ahci.reg C/P to Notepad, Rename ext .reg. Merge and re-boot to bios.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV Modify "Start" to 0. Boot into bios: change IDE to AHCI. Boot up Win 7 DVD. Format SSD. Exit Install. Blow image to SSD.
No balls....no golf..... Install it.....
Is it moot?
Yes...as long as they're identical, I wouldn't worry about it....... Did you install this: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=3387
Atta-boy!! [e digicons][/e]
I've spent years diligently cultivating an image of just being another jackass amongst the nameless rabble, and you guys are blowing the shit out of it in one fell swoop.
Yes, but it was a pain..... certainly more than such a simple proggy warranted. One of the banes of modern computers/net surfing is this bloody pre-occupation with browser addon toolbars. None is "needed".
I suppose that means they depend on .NET 2.0 but not sure
Yes. Did you install 4.0 on there? Open Control Panel/ Programs, See what .Net versions are still listed.
You need to clean it all out, then install 1.0 and run update, then 2.0 and run update and so on...... Anything Update doesn't offer can be found at: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=96 (scroll to bottom of screen)
When the tech did some digging in the registry, she couldn't find whatever should have been there for msconfig.exe (I tried to get out of her what she was looking for & couldn't find but all she'd say is that there is a registry issue with msconfig).
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\MSCONFIG.EXE Path:: C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.ex
I thought it might be your MMC snap-ins......we'll get back to that. Run the tool I gave you and then run Windows update. If update won't run, install manually: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=96 http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=19 Than run update.
http://home.ptd.net/~miles4/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip C:\WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\binaries C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 Both are 04/14/2008 00:12:27 169,984 Anything else it's malware or corrupted. My guess is it's the latter. Look in Event Viewer.... it's talking to you
if i uninstall window blinds it goes back to normal. then reinstall it it stays normal, but with restart i repeat the same thing all over again.
Did you lock the taskbar before the re-boot?
I must be missin' something......are you saying you can't use the mouse to resize the taskbar?
does anyone know why?
OEM
did it install right?
Yes

You're skirting precariously close to the clinical definition of insanity. I don't know how many different ways I can say this..... A realtime priority thread can never be pre-empted by timer interrupts and runs at a higher priority than any other thread in the system. As such, a CPU bound realtime priority thread can totally hose a machine. If that's your goal, knock yourself out.
Leave it be. DWM is a Direct-3D application that controls the display and update of windows on the desktop by aggregating screen content through WDDM. It must be set to high.
I dont want to introduce instability to a rock solid setup
Then don't.

This thread borders on ridiculous..... ......everyone who knows Po, knows every day of the year is occasion to tell him and the sheep he rode in on to go fuck themselves.
There's something to be said for being from an island that started out as a penal (in this case, penis) colony.
