Since when you reload the game you have Xeno Ethics, it sounds like the tech was marked as finished, the game was saved, then something happened that crashed the game before the popup could come up. I would recommend upgrading to the newest version of the game (ver 1.2) Unfortunately your saved game will not allow you to choose an alignment. However, if you have a previous autosave file from before the autosave, you should be able to recover.

If you are using McAffee virus scan, please disable it or have it ignore gc2launch.exe. If that does not help, please try running Galciv2.exe directly by selecting Run from the start menu and entering this: c:\program files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2\galciv2.exe Then click OK or hit Enter to run it.

You're right. The maintenance is included in spending. The net income on the colony list page has been fixed for the next update. Thanks for reporting this.

Please update to the newest version (version 1.2) and see if you still have this problem with ranger ships. I remember we addressed it in one of the updates. If you are using a saved game from a previous version of the game with the problem, the problem may continue but only for that saved game. New games started with the new version should not have this problem. If you still experience this problem after starting a new game with the new version, please let us know. Thank you.

Also, what are the best things to disable in the performance options for speeding up performance? This will vary depending on the machine. Some you will probably want to try are: + Your anti-aliasing level (Turn it down) + The number of stars and nebulae + Disable point sprites + ThrottleFrame Rate (Make sure it is

Please post the contents of your debug.err file (found in c:/program files/stardock/totalgaming/galciv2 ) If you can, please upload a screenshot to ImageShack (or another image hosting service) and link to it. If you haven't done so already, please make sure your video drivers are up to date.

If ship textures are not showing up in the game, please first check the Video tab in the Options menu and verifiy that "Disable Ship Textures" is not checked. Also, please try updating your display device driver, as this is the most common cause of this problem. If this does not help, please let us know.

When you delete/obsolete a ship design, a prompt pops up saying how many of that ship type you have, and asks if you want to decommission them. If you say YES, the ships will be destroyed and you will get the money for them. If you choose NO, they stay on the map.

Yes, by the time you get the angle you want the fight is over and you have to click replay, which kinda misses the point of the fight, if you know the results Just hit the pause button to pause the battle. You can still move the camera while the battle is paused. One of the things I like to do is wait for a ship to start to explode, then pa

If this happens again, try changing the "Tactical Map Zoom Level" option in the Interface tab on the Options screen. This option determines the zoom level where the 3d models change into icons. Deleting and reinstalling would've set this to its default value so that's why it was fixed.

When you start the game, it creates a file called debug.err. This file is located in your /Program FIles/Stardock/TotalGaming/Galciv2 folder. Open the file in notepad, copy the contents, and paste them in a message here. We can probably determine from the information in that file why the game crashed. If you haven't already done so, please upgrade to the newest version of the game (Version 1.11) and check to make sure your video drivers are up-to-date.

Can you please provide a little more information, like what you were doing or what was happening when the crash occurred? Does this crash happen frequently with fresh new games, or is it only your saved game? If you have mods enabled, please try disabling them and see if the crash still occurs.

Please try reinstalling. It sounds like a .dxpack file did not install properly. If that does not fix the problem, run the game, go to the screens that do not work, then exit. There will be a file called debug.err in your /Program Files/Stardock/TotalGaming/Galciv2 folder. Please post the contents of this file.

astreeter, If an uninstall and reinstall does not fix the problem, please try disabling mods in the Options menu and see if you are still unable to use mass drivers. If that still does not help, please send the following to [email protected] 1. A saved game where you cannot build mass drivers Saved games can be found in My Documents/My Games/Galciv2 2. GC2Types.xml This file can be found in program files/stardock/totalgaming/gal

Are you using mods? Try running the game without mods and see if that helps. You may also want to try an uninstall and reinstall to ensure that no important files are missing. If that still does not help, please post your debug.err file. If you have a saved game that reproduces this crash, please send it to [email protected]. You can also get SmartException (in Free Stuff in Stardock Central). Install and run this program. Then run galciv2. When it crashes, SmartE
