Andy, What kind of God do I ascribe to? A kind loving merciful God who is always faithful to me even when I'm not so faithful to him.. He's a comforter, a help in distress and one that gives me chance after chance to get things right as he is so patient as well. He's doing a work in me day by day (sanctificaltion). We don't know the whys Andy, and we can't go beyond what is written. But I do believe that we are all drowning in the sea of
KFC Kickin For Christ
Dude.... glad to hear from you as well......of course you don't really believe there will be peace until the Prince of Peace comes back now do you? TOVA Thanks.....you are an encouragement to me~~~
The only one I'm really concerned with in the long run of offending is Christ. Non Christians may try to poke holes......but to no avail.......CHRIST IS A ROCK~~~ and of course......my son, my son......glad to hear from ya.....LOL...... Cacto, The reason it's not easy for a rich man to enter heaven has nothing to do with his works and all about his trust in his riches instead of in God. Christ said also that you can't
With all the latest news about the Muslim extremists and their latest acts of violence I thought I'd jump into the arena but with a different twist. Lately I've been hearing that Islam and Christianity are compatible. Afterall they do follow the God of Abraham. But do they? Really? Let's take a closer look. Closer examination will show
Yes I have to agree with Andy. You accuse us of doing what you just did....blowing some hot air!!! We'll have to agree to disagree. Who says you don't communicate about God by talking? The last words Jesus said was "GO AND TELL." So am I supposed to listen to you over Christ? Hmmmmm? Scriptures also says...."come, let us reason together." Again. Scripture (in one hand) and Emperor (in the other).....hmmm which s
Tex I really feel for you. I wish I could talk to you person to person. It's hard to find out what's really down deep there, but I can only guess . It sounds as if you were trying too hard to climb the ladder of salvation on your own merit. Not relying on Christ to do so for you. Letting go of the reins so to speak. God says "those that seek me will find me" and I believe that. He puts the desire in there. I'm sure you've
Dharma Well who do you think the council consisted of? Non Christians? Doesn't really matter tho because God works thru Non Christians as well. Now for contradictions......can you shed some light here? When I ask for them, I usually get a shrug and an "I'll get back to you." I smile and say ok...."when you do.....I'll be ready." They never do. See I've been reading and studying the Holy Scriptures for 30 years and als
Glad to fill you in Andy but can only do so by touching lightly on the subject. Like I said, this is a huge issue and one that's been debated for many years and you and I are not going to solve this here on JU. First you assume that "all" children are God's children. Why? Where are you getting that from? Jesus said to the unbelievers...."You are of your father the devil." See Andy there are two fathers. One is the Creator God Jehovah a
Thanks Tova, We're not sure yet but Brian is trying his hardest to get in. He has to take his GRE's first. He's aiming. At VMI he's very highly ranked, has alot of responsibilities and has been told because of his military clearance he will not be deported anywhere. I guess cuz he knows too much and is too valuable. I questioned this because he's still young and at the beginning of his career but he says it's so. Ya Brian also
hmmmmm for a long time I was hiding cold cash in one of my old running shoes. Then it got to be too much and I started using two shoes. Then I had visions of me dying and my husband throwing all my shoes away. Now my paychecks go safely into the bank.....but after all the bank robberies around here......I'm not so sure that's the safest spot.
My sympathy is with you. I just lost my last teen. He turned 20 recently. But I had all boys and have been told it's not as bad as the girls. We all survived and now I'm enjoying a very good relationship with all three, although I think I was the "meanest mom." My job was to get them to 18 in one piece. Have you discussed contacts? All three of my boys wore contacts. I went thru the same issue as you with my youngest. My rule was cont
You can be religous but lost. You can do all the right things and go thru the motions but not have a personal relationship with God. Doesn't matter what religion you are. You could be sitting next to born again Christians week after week but still not come to the truth. It's not about religion but all about relationship. Many do stick with "their religion" all thru life. Jesus said those not willing to leave Father and Mother for my
Doesn't make sense, KFC. If we did, there would be no 'non-Christians', as we'd all be card-carrying Christians, surely? And if you're saying that your God is interventionist, in that he supports and looks after his own, then it ought to be child's play to compile statistics that back that up, right? You have a point here Furry. First off lives have been changed as a result of these card-carrying Christians. Many have come to Christ as
Great thoughts and discussion guys. Yes Andy I'm saying it's all God and not man. This is a very deep issue and one debated within the fundamentalists as well. I have looked at predestination at length and believe it's God who predestines. It's not about our will....it's all about his will be done. Paul writes about this in Eph 1 & 2 especially but it's seen throughout scripture. Jesus said...."You did not choose me but it is I that ch
Larry, What is your definition of anti-semetic? While I have heard MLuther was anti-semetic I know of no such truth behind the rumor. As far as the Gnostic gospels....yes I have heard of them. They not only contradict the 4 gospels we have now but they also contradict themselves. Hundreds of writings were circulating in the Roman Empire. For more than 50 yrs Christians had relied on 20 or so writings.....the 4 gospels
Thanks Sgsmitty...I agree. And Jill I agree with you about the respect for both sides. I don't feel I've got that from you. If you're referring to my question....What if you're wrong? It wasn't meant to be disrespectful only a challenge. I ask that alot in person and have never had a problem with another in my asking that. Maybe it's because there is no eye contact, body language, facial expression or tone of voice here on JU........ who
I also believe Buddhism is a religion. Some do worship Buddha as a deity and some worship other gods along with Buddha. There are also many branches of Buddhism so it's hard to pinpoint exactly. There are differences yes, but there are some things that we agree on also. Most Buddhist are taught to live according to several precepts that are in total harmony with scripture. Such as....no stealing, committing adultery and no lying among othe
Yes I agree with you Dude. Nicely said. I love the analogy of the sailboat on the water. You can't see the force behind it but you can see the effects as it moves across the water. That's what non-Christians should see in Christians. They should see the effects of their God behind them. We are called to be salt and light. I also agree with all that say you can't prove to another. I agree. I'm just saying there is proof out there if
I don' t believe the stories in scripture are fantasy by any stretch. Why? Because I've read them and studied into this. Like I've said many times....I'm a very big skeptic about alot of things.. But the more I read the bible the more I can see the truth in this book. It's unlike any book I've ever read. I do assume everything in scripture is true.....not because I've left my mind at the door but because I used it. God said to love him with o
Well from a Christian perspective the definition of FAITH is "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." We may not "see" God in the physical but we believe the evidence is there. We "see" him in the spiritual. Another way to look at it is to use as an acronym....F-A-I-T-H. Forsaking All I Trust Him. While I do know many follow God blindly I don't see where he asks us to blindly follow him.
hmmmm I know some about Buddhism but was wondering....what is your definition of Gnosticism? Doesn't it have something to do with Knowledge?
Thanks for trying guys. But Dharmagrl......I know you like this parable....... but the problem with this illustration is identifying the elephant with God. That is if you are saying all are right which is what I understand many to believe. You are assuming that all these people are experiencing the same God when in fact this is not true. Christianity and Islam cannot both be true at the same time. Neither can Mormanism and Bud
Is there a God? How can we be sure? I believe this can be intelligently answered. The reason we believe He exists is He told us so and revealed Himself to us. God is not silent. He has revealed to us who he is, what he's like and what His plans are for Planet Earth. He has revealed these things thru the bible. This is not just a mere book
Yes Paul did write most of the NT but not all of it. Peter wrote 2 books, John 5, Luke 2, Jude 1, etc. But Paul did say this. "He was seen by Peter, then by the twelve. After that he was seen by over 500 witnesseses at once of whom the greater part remain to the present but some have fallen asleep. After that he was seen by James, then by all the apostles. The last of all He was seen by me also as one born out of due time. <
I did not mean for this article to be a bash Jill or anybody else for that matter. The point of this was to tell you a bit about who I am and my observations without naming names.. If you're trying to prove that Jill was tender and gentle with the above quotes....I'm not so sure you picked good quotes here. As far as me being off topic on her site, I'm not sure I was. While it was about deism Jill included this at the end of he
