Thanks Tova, Ya, I was too. I wasn't angry but I did feel as tho I just couldn't win. First not allowed to use verses. Ok... I stayed away from that out of respect. Used facts. Didn't like that. Used a source....didn't like that either....I guess too subjective. Went to objective sources....and really didn't like that. and from my point of view got very angry. Have to say tho when I was typing up I knew that was gonna hap

Love is not an emotion. Love is an action word. It's a commitment. You may have love and lust mixed up there. Those who believe that Love is an emotion are the ones in divorce court a few years later when their "love" has waned. Those who believe love is more than that are the ones in it for the long haul long after the twitter bugs go away. It was Mother Teresa who said...."Don't just stand there.....love with your hands." I could give you proof after proof and you still wouldn't believe. But here's a few quotes to get you thinking cuz I'm ever the optimist. William F. Albright, archaelogist said: There can be no doubt that archaelogy has confirmed the substantial historicity of OT tradition. The excessive skepticism shown toward the Bible by important historical schools of the 18th and 19th centuries certain phases of which still appear periodica

You may be right Karma, but I can only judge on what I see thus far. That is my observation as of today. Maybe later I'll change my mind when more data comes in. Do you want me to tell you then? Your defense of her makes much more sense now. I wasn't give the chance to ask "why" I wasn't adding to the discussion. Besides this started before her blog. I almost (and shouldn't) have responded to her article and if you notice I was

Eywitnesses? Matthew walked with Jesus and wrote his account. Mark a companion to Peter wrote his gospel using Peter's eyes. Luke, a companion to Paul wrote his gospel and said right off in Chap 1: Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word, it seemed good to me also having had perfect understanding of all things from the first to write to thee......that you mi

Wow 99% huh? I haven't been around much to test this out but I'm willing to bet I'm with you. I'm usually in the minority and that's where I like to be. Less crowded. Religion is my favorite topic as well although I am not a religionist so to speak. While I haven't blogged much on this topic really or gone too deep I'm rethinking doing so. If you wrote "good read" on my site (not knowing if we're on the same page)...I

Ok, first of all......I never mentioned anyone's name nor have I resorted to any name calling. So since Jill's name came up.....notice she was the one calling me names and she got very irritated when I put the scientific facts in front of her going to published scientifc journals to boot. I actually expected this reaction. I wasn't surprised. She didn't like the fact that I wasn't debating her as she thought I should with hard facts........critici

Andy I love discussing with ya....don't ever be worried about exposing your views to me. I love to share and give my reasons for what I believe in. And we (I speak for HC as well) have no intention of walking over anyone. We want to walk arm and arm with you to the other side of eternity. Thanks HC for your comments as well......been having some technical difficulties here......gotta get my computer fixed~~

*am* surprised you could even find a couple of people here at JU that still believe the literal interpretation, but a couple out of how many Again, scriptures are proven by your very words. "Wide is the gate and narrow is the way which leads to life and few there be that find it."

Yea, funny thing that science. Theories vs. Fiction. The bible isn't a theory. It's barely a hypothesis. No, it's a written account by eyewittnesses. Better than a theory. Jesus himself said, in his parable, to the rich man who went to hell, that if they do not listen to Moses (who wrote abo

God encouraged parents to stone their sons to death if they are drunkards (Deuteronomy 21.18); said fathers should eat their sons (Ezekiel 5:10); demanded mass exterminations (Exodus 32:27, Exodus 20:5 and many other verses), ordered babies to be smashed and pregnant women to be ripped up (Hosea 13:16), punished people with snake

Asking somebody "what if you are wrong" when you can't imagine that *you* could be wrong ohhhhhh so that's what makes me arrogant? Because I asked that question? That's it? I asked the question to a certain blogger because she was certain I was wrong and has been very vocal about it. This particu

The thought is that they may have been small or baby animals and for some or most of them could have been in hibernation. Remember also that Noah and his sons had 120 years to do this. And with no rainy days......everyday was a good day. I did have some material, ( can't find it at the moment )that spoke about experts in the field of shipbuilding explaining this boat was very remarkable in its measuements and has been used for

Yes, as arrows.....blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. My three boys are such a blessing to me as well. Like yours...very different. One is gentle and sensitive while the other is rough and tough (but inside is really Winnie the Pooh). The third is reflective and will make a great journalist someday. He loves to write and run....alot. All different but all a blessing just the same.

Hey Ruby, You can hang onto me in church anyday since we sit knee to knee anyway. I sensed you seemed a bit tense this morning that's why I put my arm around you...I can't help you much in the Dad department only in that I hope I can help answer any questions you have about God and his everlasting faithful love for you. He is always faithful. Always. Goes against his holiness not to be. Remember he said he is the father to the

Yes, and through it all.....God's word is still here. All the nay sayers through the years......dead and buried but God's word endures and will continue to do so when we are all dead and buried as well. Well said Tova. You speak so much more eloquently than I. The one thing I've figured out is we don't know the whys. My first question to God is......why did you put that tree in the Garden in the first place? But I am confident that

Oh and LW......the first chapter of Genesis is a summary and the second is a detailed account. Adam and Eve were the first two. Your verse in Luke that you brought up on another thread actually proves that. It stopped at Adam didn't it? It said that Adam was the son of God? Why? Because Adam didn't have parents.

Okay fine. Let's have a show of hands. How many people believe that the entire world was flooded, and that Noah got a pair of every land animal on the face of the earth on a relatively small ship. Well no surprise here. I do. But where do you get "small ship?" Also if this wasn't a world

Well it's not until late summer or fall this year. He hasn't got his marching orders yet. This will be a whole new ballgame for us. One boy in VA, one in New Orleans and now one will be in Ohio. He's trying to get in to the school there to get his masters but he has to be accepted into the program. But it's a definate he'll be there at the base for at least 18 months. So somewhere in there, we'll be visiting I'm sure. Lunch would be fun!!

As someone who is truly arrogant, I can recognize a fellow traveler and you do tend to get pretty arrogant Well I can't argue this really. Because obviously you feel as tho I did come across as arrogant. For that I am sorry. I know that my strong stance can come across that way but I really don't w

God is unknowable to mortal man Hmmmm Knowing about God is different than Knowing God. It's like reading a book about marriage and knowing about it vs being married and experiencing it. We can't "know" God completely, but I wouldn't go so far as to say he's unknowable to us. Jesus said..."<

I think that we belittle God if we believe that God is a jealous type. Jealousy, like insecurity, is a human weakness, which is overcome by cultivating a greater sense of self-worth and inner security. To me, belief in a jealous, insecure God, who loves conditionally, is a misguided belief, and has nothing to do with ultimate rea

i love when people find contradictions, and when they try to prove them, they contradict themselves Yes, in this instance this atheist basically wanted to show how awful and cruel God is and not worthy of our worship.
