My solution isn't for everyone. Not getting security updates from MS means I'm paying for 0Patch instead [and doing that on the other systems on Win 10 as well...same reason]. I am forced to run a few proggies via Win10 on a VM on the main machine's Win 7 as they are no longer functioning on 7. That in itself isn't something Joe Average is likely to want to do. Upside is that with no MS updates I can go six months without a reboot .... ;) Running the same

[quote who="SilverSage" reply="4146001" id="516097"] so you end up paying to restore something you used to have for nothing. [/quote] And yet, you paid for that Win7 that could be 'classic' then took the free upgrades away from 7 and ended up with 11 [assuming you had the hardware] or at least 10. So, people freely gave up what they had... I didn't. I'm typing this in Win 7 still. OS has been alive now for 11 years, still the original instal

My Brother in law gave me that exact model, green screen and all. It had a 1 meg ram expansion card... was the full length of the box...more than a foot long. I eventually got rid of it, but not long after I went to the Melbourne Museum to see the last/only fully complete and working First Generation computer [Csirac], and outside the room it was inhabiting behind glass was that same computer above. That's when I thought maybe I should have kept it...;)

Now, ignoring the Sysmetrix in the bottom right that I've used since forever [a compilation of my old Seiko watch face and Treetog's Antares Two graphics]... I've been using VLC as my media player for yonks but just used what was available online as a skin of choice. Issue was that the one I like did not accomodate the option for always on top, so I had to delve into an entirely ali

I "had to" reboot my Win7 machine yesterday, Kaspersky had an update and popped up the reboot request, and I was having an issue with MS Teams ... so what the heck... Checked my 'uptime' as it tends to be long .... turns out the last time I'd shut down was when I was away overnight last... and that was about a week before Christmas, 2025. Uptime was 180-something days. It's really nice when your OS is no longer supported and you don't have to cope with bullshit MS Upda

50 years as a Race Official with noise levels often over 120db and I'm pretty darn deaf but am yet to get hold of some Aids... probably because I really need to determine whether I action the likes of the FIA and FIM for failing to maintain a 'safe' work environment. Should be a shoe-in as I was required to wear their comms equipment all that time and it was obviously not up to the task of ear protection.
