Diplomat jmgarth, I don't mean to be argumentative but offer only as discussion that I wasn't thinking of the government as an employer, per se, but as a consumer. While the government doesn't purchase ships, planes, tanks, ammunition and supplies at anywhere near the rate in peace time as they do in wartime, doesn't that stimulate the economy by forcing industry to keep up with the very real demand? As war material is destroyed, more need

It's in the hands of the developer's now!
I sure do - I just finished it so the saves are fresh. I'll send it along right now.
I just ended an extremely frustrating Beta game because during play, the Pirate ships, after being reduced to 0 Hit Points, would simply remain where they had died, sparking and smoking. The first ones that did it were not a problem, because they were in open space. However, when the final pirate ship was sestroyed while occupying the same space as a planet, the planet saw the pirate ship as protecting the planet and would not let me destroy the shi
I believe that their should be some sort of checks and balances for the changes in economic status. I was about six turns into a war when a recession appeared! In most cases, warfare stimulates the economy, adds thousands of jobs and pushes manufacturing to its' limits. Therefore, the chance of recession during wartime should be very, VERY slim. To balance that out, in the first year after a war ends, either through a peace treaty or conquering ano
I've had a problem only with the most recent Beta. Whenever I minimize the game by using the Windows key on my keyboard, I can restore it only by right-clicking on the minimized box and choosing "restore" from the menu. However, if I left-click on the box, it immediately gives me an "Invalid Call" error (No numbers, paths, or other detail) and the game closes completely. Also, the first method restores the game, but it takes a full 2 minutes or more
No matter if it is added now or in a future expansion, this is a great idea!! It would also add depth to the pirates who wouldn't be as interested in destroying ships as they would be in capturing them and strengthening their ranks. A new ship component could allow the chance for the ship to be detonated instead of being captured. And would capture of the ship allow for a political situation of ransoming the crew? Any race that was unwilling to cou
Upgrading a custom ship design caused the game to crash to the desktop as soon as I hit the save button while using the same name as the previous ship. I upgraded an older constructor design with new engines and life support, hit the save button and BAM! The End. Anyone else with this problem? I've done all of the Windows and DirectX upgrades so I don't think it's internal.
Shadowdream, that's exactly what it needs. That's what I was trying to emphasize - just enough to get the general idea and start in the right direction! Oh, and I'm sure it's because it's Beta, but I turned on the "Tutorial" option, but no tutorial was forthcoming. Depending on how well the tutorial functions will help decide how much would have to go into the Quick Start Guide. Also, when the tutorial is implemented, the game should default to the tu
TekGreg, I'm thinking of starting up a wiki for GC2 strategy and such, and posting summaries of the stuff here. Doesn't take much, just a question, and you'll be flooded with opinions. Ooh, ooh...where do I sign up? LOL! I just tried a game taking tips from others here and using a different race t
I know Prima or Brady Games will probably have an aftermarket strategy guide, but I'm afraid that those having as much trouble as I am may never get to that point. Beginning strategy, at least to the point that one understands how the basic components work together would really help. Beta Tesla, thanks for the tip! I did finally save a bogus game there and put all the other saves beyond that one, but it is a shame that that spot is where the autosave
I agree with the "balanced doesn't equal same" theory. Any fan of Star Trek can tell you that Klingons know war - and that's about it. They are horrible in their social development, diplomacy skills, and any tech that doesn't have to do with blowing sentients to bits. Vulcans are socially and diplomatically superior to almost all races and suffer when it comes to the very viceral art of war. Of course, that is the reason there are different win scenarios - you do
I will qualify this by saying I am a new player to the Gal Civ series, having never played I. I printed the manual and only found minor errors which I am sure will be caught in the final printing. However, I wanted to address a larger problem, if I could. I have to agree with Citizen First Lensman. Having only been able to poke around on the interface until this first manual was offered, Playing Terrans, I would try to keep up with the expansion of the
