On top of what yraq had to say, there is also a tiny risk of causing actual damage to the device being unplugged. This is because USB ports have current running through them. Without 'stopping' the device there is the potential for current to spike or jolt as you pull out the connector plug. Not fun if it's a USB mass storage device you're removing. I like to play it safe... Kinda reminds me of having to enter 'p' at the prompt to park our hard disk drives on old computers.

It doesn't bother me too greatly - though I often wonder if it wouldn't be too much trouble for Microsoft to have a selection of colour varients for their standard/basic theme. The old one wasn't going to set the world on fire but I mean... not everyone likes blue... blue is my favorite colour though

I find it interesting that people seem to expect a newer, more powerful and feature rich operating system to not need newer, more powerful and feature rich hardware on which to run. Let's face it, the majority of computer users don't care. Sooner or later they'll go to their computer store to buy a new box that may just happen to have Vista on it. Afterall, as you talk about Vista being bloated in terms of hardware requirements - have you looked at the hardware requirements of games

Not everyone knows everything; for some people have busy lives with social/work commitments that may prevent them keeping on top of what's happening in technology. Another reason we're not all pro gamers and may have a game (or element of a game) that gives us difficulty... or physically kicks butt... but then Joel was advised against buying that punisher pro gamers chair (knock-off of a device used to punish stupid people who made mistakes in social experiments from the 50's and 60's).

I intsalled the demo earlier and gave the game a good run. Either I don't get it or this game is the most boring thing I've played in a long while. Of course, I appreciate we each have our own idea of what constitutes entertainment and as such, some people will love this game. Each to his own Oh but kudos to the guy for putting in the effort of making it and all.
