I haven't played the game before but from what I have read on the forums here, I have gathered that there are different size planets and they are numbered accordingly. Example a category 1 planet would be near worthless while a category 15 planet would be a rare special find. What differs between the two are buildable squares. Buildable squares are squares that can be inhabited with your buildings and factories. Each planet is limited to a certain number of them. The planets also come with inhi

I had asked the basic same question through emailing customer service here at Stardock and thier response was that I should get the extra content with the preorder. Also listed here in the forums there is another similar question in which they answered that no matter where you purchased the game, you would receive the extra content pre order game. Hope this helps

Could you describe the kind of tutorials that would have helped you for GC I ? A guide that would walk you through the first several moves within the game. It would include step by step information as well as explaining exactly why you are doing this. My problem was exactly the same as hadal. GalCiv1 is completely overwhelming to a new player. A goo

Quote [Another thing from Civilization 4 I liked (and Soren brought up) was how you can look at a unit and tell if it has moves left. A little green dot appears if the unit has all its moves left. Yellow if it has some moves. And red if it's out of moves. This was another one of those things that I'd like to put in as a bonus pak option. The issue is how to do it cosmetically] Quote I think you could color code the windows on the ship. This would give the clean appearance you were looki

I enjoy the escort and protect the item scenerios because it gives me a chance to slow down the game a bit... But that is on a RTS not a TBS. So that may be what makes the difference.

I have always enjoyed more dialoge in my strategy games. It envelopes you with the sense of the story. Its like reading a good book. You cant put it down because you want to know what happens next. Thanks for all your hard work... PS> Holy Dirty Camels!!! 120 wpm !!! Thats insane!

I'm currently playing GC1 - AP on genius level and am not pleased with the AI's way of warfaring WTF? Genius!?!?!? dude you seriously need to write a strategy guide of something. I thought those upper levels were simply there to make you feel dumb. I didnt realize people actually played at those levels.. dang! <img src="smiles/Gas

Hiya everyone, Having never played GalCiv 1, I downloaded the demo yesterday (and to be honest... I am not one to read manuals a lot. I like a good tutorial (which GalCiv 1didn't have) that walks me through the basic concepts and controls of the game. Yes I enjoy having my hand held when learning a new game lol. My normal procedure is to open game, install game, play tutorial a few times, then play game with manual very close by in case something needs to be verified or explained more. Prob

I think the picture of food may be a rare delicacy known as Umfdar egg covered in Jaman sea sauce with Namoopf milk served warm of course. Think ostrich when you think Umfdar . Umfdar are a bird like species that have many of the same characterizations of the ostrich. They live however underground and therefore hatch eggs with a soft membrane rather than the hard calcium shell we are familiar with. Jaman is a special treat. Think octopus when you think Jaman. But it looks and reacts quite differ

I really really enjoyed the story.. it had me captivated through out. Reading it, I was constantly reminded how difficult it must be to try and get a handle on the AI. I mean the scope at which you must think ahead 20 steps at all times is just amazing. Each action creates many trips and falls down the line. I am surprised that developers are not being rushed to the hospital on a regular basis with exploding-headamus. In laymans terms.. Internal brain freeze. <img src="smiles/Smile.gif" border=

Personally, I prefer to play solo offline. I have played on line games, MMO, Diablo, and the like. What I enjoyed about those games wasnt the other people I was grouped with but the game play itself. If the gameplay sucked the game sucked. Then you add in the ??? factor with real people and you are setting yourself up for a possible horrible time. IE... members of the group arguing, members getting bumped offline, members not knowing what they are doing and getting the whole group killed, membe

Hello everyone, I have been looking over the forums and I am getting a bit concerned that there are so many bugs still left in the game so near to the release date. Does anyone in beta (I'm not) feel that the game is ready or will be ready for release ? I sure hope so, I have been looking forward to this game for a long time and since I never played the first one (never knew about it) my anticipation increases by the day. I can deal with a few bugs here or there since a bug fix should be f

Thanks a million you guys! Yes it was Starfleet, though I am not certain whether it was I or II. I found the game completely addicting. It came with this huge manual (thick) with very in-depth story. It was that story that fueled your imagination when playing the game. As I said before, the game in today's standards was simplistic to the 9th degree, but when you played it, your imagination soared and you could vision the laser or torpedos smashing into the hull of another ship. You could hear th

Ohh well, I'm not in beta therefore I'm not fluent in all the aspects of the game. I will trust you guys and assume that what I am suggesting just wouldnt be very feasable/fun. I thank you for posting your ideas on the subject and I appreciate your insight.

Hiya everyone, In another post of mine I was told that the game would not have space marines. I would like to take this opportunity to suggest this within the game. Space Marines would be combat units on board your ship. They would be there to invade other ships or fight off invasions from your enemies on your ship. These units would be of different levels of effectiveness since it would require time, money and technology to train the unit to an elite status. Space Mar

Very cool! I read that you could customize the colors but I was concerned that if you added your own "paint" (insignia, logo, details, etc ...) that it would prohibit you from metaverse... I am excited to hear I may be able to add my own touches without being penalized !

Thanks for the link... yeah I'm sure there are alot of games that are similar. Reach for the Stars doesnt ring a bell for me, yet Im sure it is close to the same. Its funny how games have evolved so much yet many of the ideas have roots in the past. Will GalCiv2 have space marines ? (asked above already)

Hi all, just read that the only downloads that will be accepted in Metaverse will be those that have no Mods. If I were to mod only the color of my ships would this still constitute as a mod. An example would be that I may want to add small decals to my ships or an insignia. If I do this will I be able to still participate in Metaverse ?? thanks for any help..

Hey all, I cant for the life of me remember what the name of it was but I remember spending a good portion of my life playing it in the early-mid 80's. The concept was VERY close to GalCiv 2. Everything was black and white, or green maybe too... remember those green screen monitors You basically had a grid and little icons. each grid was a plate of the galaxy. You basically went around trying to conquer o
