interesting story, but where is the "Spell of Making Victory" the title promises?
Combine it with another idea I read on the forums. Let's say each individual has to be attacked and taken down seperately
I am the one who posted that idea in other threads as I was formulating the suggestion I made here. And this idea is the very cornerstone on which my suggestion builds. The rest of your post seems to basically be exactly what I had in mind.
My old suggestion was to split units into "hero" "army" and "AoE" IIRC with equivalents for monsters. Significantly increase the QUANTITY of enemies in an army/swarm. With the sov and champions being developable as either a hero or AoE (or a hybrid that is master of neither). as well as some of the greatest monsters (dragons and elemental lords should also be hero/AoE hybrids) Heroes deal massive damage but only to 1 unit. AoE deal small damage but to all units in a tile.
We need flying mounts as well as either a quest reward or an expensive tech that only shows up randomly and down both air magic and warfare lines.
That would be awesome... Also perhaps as a summon... Heck, I want a dragon mount (like the bad guy from the master quest has)
horses might be second tier but that tier is not exactly cheap to research... and there are all those other awesome things you want/need to research too...
To be fair, at that point, the game was not stable, had boring factions, and horribly unbalanced tactical combat. Magic wasn't the biggest concern at that time.
Exactly. Heck at v0.951 I was still consistently getting corrupted saves which stopped me from finishing the game. Not at 0.952 this no longer happens (and the corrupt saves I submitted work when loaded in 0.952). Magic was a low priority compared to ho
To be frank, I suspect people who feel the magic system needs to be improved is a very small minority.
what? looks to me like every single player thinks that. And whats wrong with an RPG like spell selection system?
Could the Explore button light up and remain obviously highlighted while the unit is in explore mode?
Not that just, but explore mode should be aborted the moment you give a manual order to a unit! This was really irking when it happened with my sov.
10. The wildlands played no part, cause I was not in a position to enter one. The one near me was closed by a gate (is that the start of the master quest?)
its one of the them. There are at least 2 master quests available. The one with the gate is one of the easier ones.
13. The "when idle" bonuses are just annoying, and not fun for me
They would have been useful if it wasn't for the "all units/buildings must take a minimum of 3 turns
You seem to have a very narrow definition of what it means to be a "mage". You seem to define mage as a nuker, but a mage is anyone who uses magic to achieve their goals. It is possible to make a sovereign without magic, you know. Gandalf didn't throw fireballs at people. He used his will to buff himself up, and kick ass. Sauron was the most powerful wizard on the planet, and he armored up and knocked people silly (in the movie, anyway).
In real life a piercing weapon like an arrow or a pike would do more damage against mounted units, because the unit has a higher speed. Your alternative would be much better than my suggestion, but i guess it would be too difficult to implement.
An arrow would not be more effective against a horse mounted unit. And even if your point had a point, it assumes the horse is riding towards the archer and not away from or in
From my observation, when the last monster is killed the "zone of control" of the elemental lord disappears (if you kill the elemental lord, the zone remains until the last monster is killed IIRC). Zone of control normally matter for recovering land from the cataclysm (it cannot be settled otherwise)... however for some reason elemental lord lands are recovered from the get go, so I can just sneak in settlers and build settlement there... and actually they often get great es
I dislike penalties like this to enforce variety. This would not happen in real life (where any hero worth his salt would jump on a horse if he/she found one).
Good argument... and for some reason the hero CAN'T find one unless your civilization invests quite a lot of money into learning horse riding. Even if the sov comes across some pastures with wild horses he can't get any until the culture as a whole adopts them...<
Somehow, every game that has colony spam issues suffers from the same thing. Using manufacturing to create new population out of thin air (without actually using cloning). That all being said, I disagree with the main assertion of this post... especially as of beta 4. You can't just settle everywhere you want, you literally can't. The land must first recover from the cataclysm before you can settle in new locations.
actually maging sucks beyond casting buffs and heals, melee is win in this game. Not to mention that without a massive sprawling empire you cannot even afford to use spells in combat or summoning
Researching horse riding is fairly expensive and you only get it later in the game. Introducing unacceptable penalties to using one isn't exactly "balancing" it, its balanced against its rarity and difficulty of acquisition. I don't understand why mounts provide prone avoidance though. A mount can be knocked prone, and a person can be knocked off of a mount more easily then if they stand on their own two feet. Getting hit by a dragon? Well you can't fall do
I am shocked and amazed. Not only do I agree with the OP, I agree with every single word. Literally! There is not a single concept or point he had that I could point to that was not pure brilliance!
" Flat, fair, and low income tax rate" Change that to "Flat, fair, and low tax rate" Income should not be taxable. Neither should inheritance for that matter. Also, how come we got to the point where a "progressive" tax such as "10% for everyone" is called "flat tax"? If that is a flat tax then what are those old feudal taxes where people pay a yearly tax per head irregardless of their income called? Anyways, for decades we had big government politic
I was playing along on v0.952 and winning a war when the enemy contacted me to tell me I am winning... and no he isn't surrendering. Instread he will destroy everything to deny me it. And by everything I mean everything. Instnatly every single city disappeared, millions of citizens burned down their homes and then commited suicide, every mine, every farm, every remote outpost... You would think it would take some time or at least someone would say "hey, how about welcoming
When a combat unit attacks pioneers they should capture them rather then kill them.
I am ready To Crush my Enemies, See Them Driven before me, and to hear the Lamentation of their Women! However I cannot declare war on them because of non-aggression pacts... Which I cannot break. I also cannot tell how long they are going to last and I looked everywhere
By the way, it's quite ridiculous that the only source of food in the game at the moment seems to be grain.
Wild game adds "grain" so apparently the sov is a member of peta and the subjects are being all sneaky about it :P
