Game Starts But Crashes Before Main Game in Bug Reports GalCiv2 Forums

Ok, so I finally have come to the end of my rope. I have had this game (GalCiv2 Ultimate) sitting on my shelf for a good while now (years!) because my main computer cannot seem to run it...and Im not going to just set up my laptop just to play it. Anyway, I have no idea why it will not run. My computer meets all the requirements...unless the game has an issue with multi-core CPU's..multi-core GPU's and 4 GB of ram.
