No, he doesn't want a different game. Panzerboy has a great suggestion. This feature would not be impossible to make and would improve the gameplay experience immensely. For those who want to bypass getting involved tactically in a battle they could still have the basic battle option to simply watch. In Superpower 2, battles are fought using a system that is not too different from GalCiv 2. The only diffence is that there is a menu of ba

Exact same problem too. Does not ruin the game but is an annoyance. I agree that it seems in line with current miilitay expectations that one would expect to see long-lived sieges and wars of attrition, based on our current way of post-20th century thought. My opninion is, that in this game we are not dealing with 'current' military conventions. In the 23rd century warfare may be fast, brutal and resolved in a space of time that is inconceivable by our current standards of technology. Warfare in the future may be such a thing. In the 23rd

I want to add new sound effects for weapons, shield hits etc. I can make the sounds no problem, I just need some advice on how to add them to the game. I'm guessing it means adding the files into the GalCiv2\XML\gc2.multimedia.xml but theres a problem: The entries for the sound files all have MD5 algorithms. Are these a prerequisite to adding a new file? Do I have to create these for new sounds I want to add

There should be a simple option in GAME OPTIONS that the user can choose weekly or monthly turns. Grnated, it doesnt really change much but it would improve the enjoyment of the game for some users.

I know what it is and why they did it. They feel threatened. Yes. Their business probably relies on licencing Starforce to a lot of companies. Fact: you have unprecidented re-orders for a new game. It's selling like hotcakes; But what??? There's NO copy protection??? HUH? How DID these guys manage to be so successful without CP? We hope other companies don't follow their example - so, lets SHOW them that their games are STILL pirate

We realize that some people or companies might feel threatened at any evidence that implies that draconian DRM schemes or CD copy protection may not make that big of a difference in sales. You bet they do. I can testify that companies sales do suffer because of draconian copy protection. Case in point: Waves audio software. Hi-end sound p

The other ideas are good but this option gives me the benefit of being able to upgrade the command vessel to an armed ship should I need it. Enemy fleets always target the most lethal craft first so if the battle is lost, the command ship will be the very last to be targeted, and by that stage, survivablity is a moot point; but a very close fought victory leaving 1 fighting ship badly damaged will still ensure the command ship survives. The Command Ship Tactic Build a ship that is equal in speed and range to your main combat vessels, add similar or slightly weaker defences then with the remaining free spaces available, add as many sensors as possible for increased sensor range. When combined with a fleet that is set to Auto Attack, your fleet can intercept any enemy vessels that come within its sensor range that is greater than normally possible if yo

Since the ship-building element of the game has really taken off how about this: A separate application for download that, without loading the whole game up, lets us build our ship designs then imports them into the game. Addition ship parts could be also downloaded… What do you guys think?

Here's my 2 cents worth: *add an in-game date-stamped log/jounal you can type notes in so you can review your progress later, and export it as text (also great tool for fan-fiction). A small but great touch I think, for us creative types. Could be dumped to a simple text file. *make the ship building screen with the ship in bigger, and possibly the ability to save screenshots <

Pardon the off-topicness, but as a fellow European Limited Editioner I don't suppose you could tell me where the serial number's supposed to be? I'm either going blind, or missing it completely. Sure - you need to follow this link: https://www.galciv2.com/paradox/ <b

The difference between what other companies and what you guys are doing is simple: You have the duality of being a business but not being like a business at the front end. What the ‘feel’ of this company is that it’s like you are our buddy, uncle, brother doing updates for the game that you made for us. Other companies seem non-reachable, have delayed feedback, red-tape etc. You are not some suited gods coldly plotting the n

Citizen Cold_illusion : it is quite common for software applications to create a designated folder in your 'My Documents'. If you don't like the idea of this appearing there, then right click on the 'My Games' folder in your 'My Documents' and select 'Send to desktop - create shortcut'. Right click on the 'My Games' folder in your 'My Documents' folder and choose 'Properties' then check the 'Hidden' check box at the bottom. Hey Presto

I think heroes, ministers, great leaders and geniuses could be modded by creating them as super projects that give unique bonuses (only one allowed per 'type'). and should also be coded so that they are race-specific.

A follow-up: The collectors edition content is NOT enabled by the stardock update - I only got the collectors edition stuff after manually downloading the enabled content patch from here. This is confusing and perhaps it should be made more clear

I have The Limited Edition (Europe). I have downloaded the latest update via Stardock automatically. What I need to know is: is this the BASIC game update or is the collectors edition stuff included? It is a bit confusing. Also, I have not been able to download the 'Enable Collectors Edition Content' seperately on here since Friday. The page sticks and does not load. Can anyone please help me with this?</fon

Weird bug: the screen starts auto-scrolling endlesslly to the right of the screen and can be fixed by either save/retire/re-load or by clicking on the coloured news icons that appear on the lower right of the interface.
