Wow- I couldn't wait to play this one! As soon as the gamespot 'free demo' mail arrived in my inbox, I rushed over to download it. After 5 hours of downloading only 636 MB of virutally dial-up bandwidth (Yes and I even have 2MBPS Broadband). I virus scanned the zip. After seeing thousands of MD5 algorithm keys flash past the screen during the virus scan I waited 12 minutes for it to finish scanning, before burning it to disk and transferring it to our main PC which is
Geez man, forget the beta and be with your wife! Congratulations!
Simply great. There is possibly everything I wanted to see in this expansion and then some. Hat's off to you guys, you've done it again. Superlative.
From a buyer's point of view: CD copy protection = putting the disk on every time=disk wear=uninstallable disk after a time (I had to re-buy 2 games because of this). Also, we like to play a game, exit and play another which means disk-swapping frenzy. Worse still, intrusive copy protection systems can mess up your whole system e.g. Pace Interlok, Starforce. The Sims 2 copy protection registers as 2 Trojan's on some scanners. Deleting them mistakenly
If this happens again, try changing the "Tactical Map Zoom Level" option in the Interface tab on the Options screen. This option determines the zoom level where the 3d models change into icons. Deleting and reinstalling would've set this to its default value so that's why it was fixed. DOH! You are totally correct and dammit, I DID alter this
FIXED! Deleted ALL files remaining : deleted the whole galciv folder and My Games folder, then reinstalled.
Weird weird bug. My game ran fine until I installed 1.2beta and the 'invisible' modules mod. There are no planets or ships graphics showing at all - only the small icons you get when zooming out. The strange thing is, I reinstalled everything after uninstalling the game and deleting remaining files, updated to 1.11, enabled collectors content and still have the same problem. I have not changed my PC /hardware settings in any way. Debug M
'Controlled Space' in my definition would be the area surrounding an armed starbase. You can string a series of bases together so you have overlapping areas - hence 'your space'. More specifically, it is the area that your starbases provide assistance to your ships. Any fleets would be prohibited from entering these areas - unless they wanted to break your rules. On Assassination and Espionage: Assassination would be non-specific: "An important Korx econ
Playing the game here are some ideas I have that will add more depth: I was playing The Terran Empire and noted that the Altarians were conquering every other race. The problem got worse when they allied with the Torians and hit the Yor and The Korx. Dozens of fleets and transports were passing through my sectors and I was not happy. Enough is enough I said, and without wanting to go to war I decided to ban all military movement through my controlled space...ah...I could
For the expansion, what would be really great in terms of creative-user ownability would be: * Design your own custom races all races - tailor their A.I. etc * Universe design: create any universe you like from movie,TV comic or novels, and even your own, and share them * * More 'mundane' optional game candy: deeper political/military/economic options for the hardened sim/strategy players: e.g: political infiltration

sevenhertz : expand your pagefile size, especially as you only have 512MB My pagefile is 1.388GB and that is sufficient: the swapfile is more than adequate.
OK - when the game crashed I opened Task Manager and it reports the Page File usage at 1.38GB !!!! Below is my debug report. I had to physically end the galciv2.exe process in Task Manager to get out of the game. Debug Message: Version v1.1 last updated on: Mon Apr 24 19:03:49 2006 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.********* System Info Time: 4/26/2006, 20:21:22 DirectX Version: DirectX 9.
I have exactly the same problem. Fresh install from CD.
Bumped again.
I'm using a NASA mainframe and the game runs fine. Seriously though, try lowering the 'anit-aliasing' or turning it off. This may help with your glitches/stuttering.
6) Why not custom races for all? I haven't played the beta yet, so maybe it's being addressed already, but I'd love to customize all the races. tweak a few settings, upload a new picture. A lot easier than diving into a crash course on XML to mod the game so I can pit the humans and cylons against one another. I want to play, not
You bought the European version? yes? You need a serial number from here: https://www.galciv2.com/paradox/ Follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

Here's my debug info. Game hangs - but I can save game. This is the info after it hung the last time and I saved the game. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Debug Message: *********END dxdiag info.********* Debug Message: Entering WinMain Debug Message: ******* Starting Game Shell ******* Debug Message: Going Fullscreen Debug Message: Preparing to change
The game will hang between turns about 10 turns into a new game every time. The game is still responsive in all areas, it just hangs there without resolving the turn. No problems prior to this.
-- they have no soul. Part of creating a soul for a game is making twofold. One making a connection between the player and the characters they are controlling. This is done through characters in the story. I agree with this. I don't think this game is bad at all - I love it and it's very addictive as
Oh yes, I've seen them. WAY into a long game when I had brought peace & prosperity to the galaxy they appeared. My alliance's powerful fleets were all the way across the far rim of the galaxy in operations against the Drengin and a number of pirates started destroying freighters on trade routes within my core industrial sectors. Within a few weeks some trade routes began to close and it seriously brought my income down so that I could not maintain
