errr appears to generate 5 planets around every star created at game start even on all rare settings... Can't stop it doing this! Only started doing this since the latest patch. I'll try a reinstall, and yes I did try reloading. O/S WinXP J

If you're building defensive fleets, I would build them with at least one point in every type of attack and defence. Why you ask? Well, I have lots of combat starbases around my worlds. They give bonuses only if the ship's rating in that area is above zero. In other words... I could build a ship with 6/0/0 offence and no defence or... a ship with 1/1/1 offence an

LOL! The Dreadlords in my level of difficulty have a tech bonus of 300,000+ LOL! 10Mil DLs can wipe the floor with 5Bil without breaking a sweat...

I am currently playing this mission on Tough after handing the DLs their arses in Siege on Normal. I have to admit it is bloody hard, I hav already lost 2/3 worlds to the evil rushing DLs. I just can't hold them back long enough, the allied trade routes are getting slaughtered and my allies are ready to give up, only the space slugs the Torians are do well, but they are under constant siege from DL escorts. I've managed to trade just about every piece of technology anyone as gotten, i

Good strategy, use invasion of the DL as a way to steal their UBER tech. Thats what the Altairans did in my last game they kept invading this one world and got Antimatter torp tech from one of the invasions. LOL - Cheeky space monkeys

BBBBBBOOOOOOOO!!!! In my last game I was smashing the brains out of the Dreadlord battleships. The trick is WEAPONS! Defensive technology is just plain to expensive. For just 1 armour I can equip 2 phasors. Those 2 phasors means my enemy dies 6x faster than if I had used the armour. And to be fair when you can generally fit 2 weapons to each one defensive slot why bother? I tend to use the following tactic, arm up, fly fast, strike first. Basically beef your ships killing

Completed the mission on Normal after 2 days of constant fighting. LOL My winning solution was similar to Tetleytea's idea, I built cheapo fast interceptors on every planet that I conquered and colonised to intercept all incoming DL transports. Problem for me was keeping the interceptors alive long enough to spot the incoming transports. I managed to do it all though with only losing 1 planet to the DLs. I lost another to the Yor but later took it back no probs. Trick is to

Playing this level for the second time on Normal rather than simple. I was doing alright on the previous lower level but wanted to really experience a hardcore battle. So decided to up the difficulty and start again. Ironically I am now doing better on this level than I did on the previous difficulty. Strategy - I decided to max max out for my race to colonise all the world asap, boosted economy and am a federalist government. Tactics - So far I own all the free worlds bar

Hiya all folks, I want to set you all a challenge and see how it plays out. Tonight I want you all to play a tiny map with 2 opponents and all normal settings, the opponents can be anyone, you can play as anyone, with any ability setup. HOWEVER, you must play that map with MAXIMUM ai difficulty. What I am interested in is just how good the AI really can be. I suspect that I will see incredible organisation on the part of the AI with a frighteningly fast ru

I last night had my first experience of GC2, though it was heavily rushed I quickly saw a number of flaws within the game from my own pov. One of these is the technology tree, I struggled to get to grabs with the sheer complexity of the interactions over various technology lines. I got space weapons and quickly realised that I could see only beam tech and no other weapon technology, why is this? Shouldn't the Beam, Missile and Mass Driver be visible under space weapons? If

I have observed last night that AUTO-ATTACK allows shps to spot each other without having to uncover the fog of war. I witness a fleet of my ships head half way across a sector to attack an invisible starbase. J

Actually PD did work in MOO3 just not like it was mostly likely intended. I always found that if you started off the combat round with trying to seek out and destroy your enemy your PD switched from defence to offence. So if you and counting on the PD to defend you you had to start off the round by sitting tight. This switches your PD/Lightning field generators into defence mode. After the first attack your PD mop up the attack like it is suppose to and leaves you with just the offence weapons l

Why trade for tech, focus on spying bonuses and steal the whole lot. Why waste time of researching, let the alien pets do it for you then take it all. J

Laughs an evil laugh... I have thought of a brilliant strategy... Say your enemy is really advanced in one particular type of weapon tech that you aren't very well defend against. Give them a load of advanced ships in a particular weapon that you know you are VERY well protected against, but the gift aren't. Then either use that as a bargaining chip to force them into war with a race you know can counter their original ships, or go to war with them. Ideally if you get them

Personally I'd agree with a lot of the first posters comments regarding how offensive and defensive technologies are handled in the game. I'd like to alter the confines of the different defensive types to reflect there truer nature for example; Armour is an external item and should NOT count as internal units, however the armour does have an huge mass associated with it and so should be classified as a movement limiter. So if you have a ship with movement of 10 and you have
