Having even one point of Influence is enough for the standard designs to appear, and you would still need it to train your custom ones.
I guess I'm doing something wrong. I've seen units like bards appear on the build que, but they were "greyed out" because I didn&#3
Quoting Borg999, reply 7 In one of my games, I researched the tech for getting henchmen, but I wasn't able to get any. How do you get them? Are they attracted to your city from your city influence/prestige, or do you have to go out and find them like a hero? They need Influence to train, and if you don't have any, the standard designs won't show up.
<
One question to all of you asking for more weaker difficulty levels: you do know, that there is a Novice difficulty, right? Maybe you could try this one, if Beginner and Easy are too hard for you at the moment.
I didn't see novice as a difficulty choice. I don't even see "beginner" I'll look again.

I agree, there should be at least a "cake walk" level like GC2 had, if SD is unwilling to nerf the AI bonuses on easy. OT: In the games I've played so far, only once has the AI used magic against me. All other battles were strickly military. This game really should be called "Fallen Palidin" not FE, because magic is underpowered and/or rarely used.
The start of the game can be difficult. It's a good idea to expand with pioneers or rush with troops/ early. And you should have a plan with your researching. Depending on your sov/faction and available resources, you might want to avoid researching into the magic tech tree for some time. Generally the first levels of the other two trees will serve you much better early on. As for spells, you need to
Honestly I'm getting fustrated. SD claims the AI doesn't cheat, but how does it grow so powerfull so fast. Why is it always multiples of my power rating? The AI starting points do not have the same luxuries that you have around your starting points. For example, the AI has many many more monsters to deal with around their starting points (thus more xp and loot). Secondly, the AI probably does a lot more diplomacy t

I've played about 4 games so far, and I've lost every one of them by a wide margin. The AI power ratings are usually 5-10 higher than mine. I've tried different playing styles. One where I concentrated on magic, the other military. Even when I did a straight path down the miliatary tech tree and churned out a bunch of units, the AI always had larger armies, and more powerfull units. Magic path? Forget about it. Magic in this game seems very underpowered relative to
Quoting Borg999, reply 3But Dread Lords in GC2 can't channel magic. How do you explain that? It's magic. I don't have to explain it. This excerpts might do it, however: "According to Drengin scientists, Death furnaces work by harvesting what the Drengin call the Aul. They claim the concept was originally from the Precursors (most likely the faction of Precursors called Dread Lords) who believed that Aul (wh

So how did the Dread Lords get into the world of Elemental? Did one of those wormholes lead from the galciv2 universe to the Elemental universe? [e digicons]|-)[/e] Did you guys just get lazy, or is this a nod to GC2? [e digicons][/e]

Hi, I just purchase FE through Steam without any issues. After 12 minutes of the tutorial, the game crashed. I rebooted and tried again. This time it crashed after a couple of minutes. It seems to happen a couple of moves after the "explore east while training pioneer task." Please help. I'm having Elemental flashbacks... Thanks! My system meets the minimum requirements: Operating System MS Win
My natural reaction to people demanding systemrequirements to be the same as a 5 year older game is: "Pfff get an upgrade, cheapskate!" Hi, No system requirements have been published yet, so I'd like to request, ...no plea, that Elemental has the same system requirements as GalCiv2 (all versions). Thanks! B.
When you say third or fourth missile defense, what tech specifically do you mean? Additionally, could you right click and verify that the cost has indeed increased by 50%? Do you have any research treaties with minors or majors? One other thing to check that may be obvious (as it would have other, more far-reaching side effects) is to ensure that you have not somehow been hit by the plague, as th

It's happening again.... I'm playing as the Korath. I view my research options. Enhanced miniturization will take 14 turns, so I decide to focus on missle defenses. I research up to the third or fouth missle defense, and then decide to do enhanced miniturization. Somehow, it jumped from 14 to 21 turns. I didn't change my research rate. i didn't change any priority settings on the planets. Anyone else experience this?
Tech score helps with invasions (albeit only slightly), and some techs that may be "obsolete" might have innate bonuses (warp drive, for instance). How smart would you want this algorithm to BE? .
I guess I don't understand your point. If my ships already have warp drive 2 installed, why would I want warp drive 1? Makes no sense for a spy to steal it.

A couple of quick thoughts I think there should be a way to nulify a passive spy, or a least protect against them (e.g.the hunter-seeker algorithym in SMAC) Tech stealing. I understand it's random, but there is no sense in a spy stealing laser I if you already have laser II (for example). There should be a built in check that prevents a spy from stealing an "obsolete" tech. My two cents

BoogieBac, Thanks!. I'll give that a try tonight. Zubaz, Thanks for your feedback! I have a video card that I installed some time ago. I don't know if it shares memory, but I assume it doesn't because it's not "integreted" video memory. I also have 1Gig of virtual memory. I'm don't know much about computer memory, but I would think with the combo of RAM, a video card and virtual memory, the install program should be able to figure out that it could "squeeze" th
