I think that GC2 is going to provide many more hours of gameplay for me than EAW. That, and the fact that almost all of the games under the Star Wars liscence have been horrible. GC2 really had me hooked based on just the concept of the game and the screenshots. And I have not even played the beta. To be fair, my intentions are to get as much mileage out of GC2 and wait until EAW is 20 bucks.

I have seen other companies ship a few days early to meet the same date as the instore date. Other companies mail out on the release date.
