I am happy to hear the AI updates will continue. With that said, I have no issues with the new update plan. :D I also think it may be beneficial to have more time to polish the game updates. Sometimes it has felt like things are just being "slapped" onto the game. Having time to fully incorporate, balance and polish new features will help with the "wow" factor as much as offering more new features at once.

Brad, Will there be AI enhancements post 1.7 or will this only be offered in DLC and expansions..? Outside of the starbase/constructor spam being the primary source of anti-fun (I so can't wait for this to be addressed, my wife will never see me again..! :)) there are definitely some weaknesses in the current AI and I'd hate for some ungrateful twerps to mean it will go long periods without updates.
It is too bad the starbase update isn't going to be in 1.6. That is probably the one tedious part of the game that prevents me from that "one more click" we all love about good 4X games. The fix sounds perfect though and I look forward to 1.7! I am still excited about the AI updates in 1.6..! If you are happy with the improvements then I know I will be! Thank you for the update!
Excited for this update you speak of! [e digicons]:D[/e]
I have really enjoyed this game so far. Graphics are very nice for this style of RPG, dialogue is done well which is impressive in any game... the story is... okay, as games goes it is good enough. The combat is getting more interesting as my characters level up and I have more options for strategy. One minor... sometimes major quibble I have is that I can't skip through lines of spoken dialogue and read the subtitles of it without having to hear every word spoken... th
[quote who="psychoak" reply="5" id="2136322"] My only problem with the game is that there is no actual ai controlling the factions. You can become your own interstellar power, but you're effectively fighting against a population script that keeps the world running. With modifications you can fake a war, but I'm picky and want perfection. Combat AI is relatively good, and there are massive fleets in various places to throw yourself against, so depending on how anal you are, g
I haven't played GalCiv 2 in quite awhile and yesterday I decided to buy the new expansion and give it a spin. Well... I got quite a ways into a Immense size game and the game started crashing whenever a push next turn. It auto-saved right before this point... so everytime I load the auto-saved game the game crashes after I push next turn. It doesn't crash right away... it auto moves some computer players, jumps back to a couple of my ships (I press space bar to cancel the ships moves) then i
What a bummer, I know you used to be able to go back through old pages of the dev journals. I hope it is just an error and they correct it. Thanks for the tip about using Stardock Central though!
I know this might seem like a silly question so please forgive me. I have taken a break from playing this game for awhile and am now returning to it and I was wanting to read through the old dev journals to get an idea of how the game has changed since I last played it. The problem is that I can not figure out how to go back past the first page of the dev journals. Am I just missing the link? Am I crazy? Thanks for the help!
20 minutes?! My loading times on gigantic maps never go over 1-2 minutes.
I have also had several war and surrender screens go missing... it is a little annoying when I learn someone is at war with me when the troop transports start hitting my planets.
I have 6 in my current one as well, or I did until I destroyed 5 of them.
Memory is very inexpensive and easy to upgrade, I would recommend installing more regardless.
What percentage of all threads contains game-relevant content? All of my posts have been about the game. Now look at your posts. Look, because I won't. Hi. No, I'm not going to read through the forums to see what issues her
I usually have lost elections when my approval rating was at or below 60%. I always play my games with the intention of wiping out every race (it is just how I enjoy playing...) if you don't have a decent approval rating it gets very hard to fill those transports without tanking your economy. Especially if you fill enough transports to finish your opponent off in one turn like I usually try to do. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle"
Sick of patches updating the game in response to user (OUR) feedback? Ya, I am definitely sick of Stardock having the nerve of updating the game in response to the wants and needs of its userbase.
I haven't noticed it. Playing my first 1.31 game and it has approx 470 Habitable planets with plenty of class 20+ and a few class 30+ ( game is scattered, all abundant, and gigantic ) Wow I rarely find any 20+ PQ planets on game start and have never found a 30+ one on game start. After researching techs and random game events I get plenty of plan
I am running a 3.4 ghz P4 Duel Core Processor, 2 GB of 800 mhz DDR2 Ram, and a 6800 Ultra, I can play gigantic maps with zero slow down.
Why anyone would even bother posting about this is beyond me, you shouldn't plan on playing games using a beta OS. What were you thinking?
Glad to hear they fixed that. Thanks.
Does your metaverse still end up going negative after you submit so many games? I haven't read this board for awhile and I notice my score had started going up again so I was wondering if they had fixed the scoring system. Always was lame seeing your score go down everytime you won a game.
I found the Dread Lords campaign to be easy as well, even at high difficulty.
I think it would be nice if I were able to pull up a screen that would list all of my starbases, what modules are installed and from that screen I could order constructors to go to my various starbases and build whatever modules I specifiy. I like the current system of one ship one module but having to handle manyyyyy constructors and mannnyyy starbases right now is time consuming and boring.
