I couldn't agree more. It doesn't take a Superman of computers to figure out how to use utilities like DaemonTools to bypass the CDs. I think the lack of true copy protection on GalCiv2 is making an impact but most importantly the game itself is exceptional, thanks.

You'll find that a fleet of smaller logistical ships packed with high end weapons tend to be a more effective attack platform against other fleets than say a fleet of dreadnaughts. They cost less, get an amazing initiative bonus (by shear numbers) on attacks, and build far faster. A 40 beam attack on a dreadnaught still only gets to attack one target at a time.

Specializing planets to do one thing is generally not a good way to balance your functions. I build one of each structure atleast, depending on the size of the planet, and its bonuses. If I want a planet to be more research or industry, I build more of those structures. Once you get to mid game you don't need to worry about stuff like industry. You can layer starbases to provide the industry. Build 2 or 3 economic bases per system and you got 70 to 105 extra industry right there. That doe

I've beaten a galactic map with 9 civs on painful. Working on the same set up on Masochistic at the moment. The most important thing you can do is use your 5k intro money to purchase factories and colony ships. If you got anomalies on, just let your survey ship pick all of them up and don't use it to scout. Make sure to balance your military and social building focuses to the needs of the planet and the colony ships. If you have a minor or major race nearby trade as many techs as you can. u
