Re: non-optimal game mechanics. Would it be better if players were allowed to extort or gift techs even with the no tech trading option enabled? Seems like we're losing an interesting dynamic here, one that has little to do with the complaints about the AI trading too freely. Of course, it also seems like that would only benefit aggressive, "evil" players, while "nice" players would have to... turn on tech trading. *Scratches head in bemusement.*

I'm fairly certain the developers have stated that minefields were not being considered for implementation. Not sure where they said that, though--if anyone has a link, throw it up on here.
Works for me in 1280x1024 (only tried windowed mode). I'm on a nVIDIA Go 1440 something-or-rather... Highest res. in the interface settings for me is 1900x1200.
Oh, and you Stardock guys really should stop running this app in debug mode.
Looks like the file's too big to store in the library database.
Thanks! This should be pretty useful.
If this were a WWII game, would Japan surrender to Burma in the end?
Aye, many people have mentioned this (there are a couple of threads on it already, such as here: https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=103148). Seems to be a common problem.
Ships start out with WAY WAY WAY too much range...I guess I will have to wait for mods and hope they can be used to put exploration back into the game. If my eyes don't betray me, it should only take about 5 minutes to do that. Only have to edit a couple of lines on two files...
I think he's talking about purchasing a ship (ie, getting it next turn), as opposed to having your shipyard build one? I've had that problem before--accidentally bought something for a couple hundred BC when I really didn't want to.
It depends on what hull you're using. Cargo hulls only have 1 hp.
"How many stupid questions does a fan have to ask to become a heritic? Only 1 at the stardock forums apparently. " Nah, you just asked the *wrong* stupid question. Hehe. Best thing to do is just to let this thread die. No need to have everyone get riled up over something silly...

Well, it took me a good ten second to build a new "default" constructor or colony ship--one that I could upgrade. Throw a couple of engines, some life support, and the required module on there and you're good to go.
mormegil: I'll get it to ya as soon as I can--I'm at work for another hour or so and the files are at home. Supreme Shogun: Crap, how'd I miss that site! BlenderWars looks like it'll be very, very useful... "What happens when you get into a battle?" No idea yet. It functioned pretty normally on the main map. Haven't tried to add components to it yet.
[Edit: Posted in the wrong place.]
Prefaced by saying that I did *not* make this model. It was authored by William Burningham and I found it at this site . That said: Bird of Prey In-Game It's a pretty high quality model, so I can imagine that a few of these ingame would bring a good system to a halt. Colors/textures are wrong--the engine is painting the whole
Counter-espionage--me likes. Black ops, misinformation, stealth tech. Destabilizing enemy colonies, creating "incidents" to sow the seeds of mistrust between two nations. Watching the universe erupt in chaos... Tehehe. Where's my expansion pack already? Official line is that espionage is one of the areas that needed work (IIRC). I'm *more* than h
The drengin? They're descendents of the grinch, of course!
Tilarium, look at this thread and try using the drivers listed there: Link If you read the first message, it'll give you the info you need. nVidia doesn't directly support your card. Since HP hasn't released new drivers you need to get them from a site that specializes in releasing the drivers for these mobile gfx cards. The site I just linked to (http
Tilarium, check these links out... might help: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ http://zd7000forums.com/ http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1115
Hit the "Print Screen" button and paste it in an image editing program. That's what I've been doing, at least. Behold! I give you... Arf! Link Link
The ships are easy to make--putting them together is fairly intuitive. I got the hang of it after just a couple of minutes. It's just very easy to get caught up in adding all the little "extras" and making it look uber-cool.
Blender ( Link ) can export in the .X file format. I'm relatively new to it, though, so I can't vouch for its validity or quality.
Grazie! Even if it doesn't get fixed, it's good to know you guys are listening.
