"we didnt put multiplayer in because we wanted to make SP better" - well theres a road to nowhere basically from that point on you are limiting the games "lifespan" From a different point of view, implementing multiplayer at the sacrifice of a 'better' SP experience would also be limiting the game's lifespan. You may consider updating to 1.11 as that addressed issues with save games and memory usage. I have a similar setup to yours (I have a 9700 AIW, which I believe is a 9700 Pro with the extra functionality), a 3.06 Ghz Pentium, and a SB Audigy. My drivers are much older than your drivers but on 1.11 I've had very few system problems. I did have issues with some saves and some random crashes on versions before 1.11 (especially 1.1), but almost none that I recall since then. This is on large to
I have a 9700 AIW with probably 2.5 year old drivers with only a few crashes playing mostly large, huge, & gigantic maps. I did have to allocate more swap space (as I had 512MB ram and probably 512MB of swap) to have it run more reliably, though. I'd recommend perhaps setting swap to 1024MB or more if you only have 512MB of ram. Also, believe it or not, cleaning my computer (especially the CPU and GPU fans) worked wonders (perhaps had more of an impact than increasing the swap, as I did both
Not that Frogboy needs defending, but this topic has been beaten to death already. When something has been asked, answered, and fixed, its human nature to be at least a little short when its being asked for again. And again. You said you searched for the topic; I just typed in 'social' and within a few minutes read through several posts about this very same thing.
I thought it'd be like civ3, and nothing said otherwise. That has got to be one of the most hilarious statements I've ever read. Is there some strange programming rule that says a developer has to list every way its software is different from other developers' software? To imply that the developers
