It just goes to show you: do not feed the mouth that bites you.

Point 1 is correct.
Needless to say, you also need the "Alliances" technology.
There is also one other point of realism that is glosse dover for the benefit of simplicity: There is no (or very little) friction in space. Once a ship starts moving it only stops with another firing of its thrusters. Strictly speaking engines on a space craft should provide accleration not movement. this means that the longer the ship travels in a given direction, the faster it would get, decelerating again once it passes the halfway mark. It would also mean that it might take several turn
Right, this is a long (and conceivably boring) post, you have been warned... As a professional economist and policy anlayst I thought I should chime in on this subject, comparing the Galciv 2 system to the real world. I mention my credentials to show that while I am offering an opinion it is an expert opinion. I do not have a problem with the economic system as it stands. The economic system is split into three stages: taxation, allocation and spending as it is in real li
Make 'em terminally convinced, so to say This was in an effort I assume to "facilitate communications, and terminate hostilities"
Carriers are so popular in sci-fi (Star trek notwithstanding) because naval warfare is used as a parallel and carriers have been the primary focus of naval warfare since WWII. One way of incorporating a carrier idea (this has been discussed elsewhere on the forums so its not my idea) is to introduce modules that improve the speed and range of any other ship (perhaps limiting the hull size of these ships) in the same fleet as the "carrier". This would allow you to build fleets with on

Aside from the Humans, Altarians, and Yor, what's to say that the other race leaders aren't female? Anyone remember the line from Farscape (the episode with the space pirates) "I am the female of my species"
Glad to hear the preorders exceed your expectations, you guys earned it.
Personally I preferred the GNN description for soil enhancement (got to love the Monty Python reference).
I have not yet finished my first game, but i do have a few first impressions: First of all, let me say I am definitely impressed by what I have seen so far. The whole tech tree is a bit daunting. I am the sort of player that is used to routinely completing the tech tree and I find the massive range of techs avaialble a bit daunting, especially when i can't see the whole tech
Hmm... its earlier than I thought. Oh well, i guess I'll just have to wait until I get home from work to download (I wouldn't have time to play until then anyway).
Don't mind this post, i just want to check what time it is in EST, and can't be bothered doing the math.
Done and Done. Reporting for duty!
Incidentally, I have now added a personal icon to display my loyalties.
I've just gotten an offical word on the metaverse games and the only restriction over sandbox is no modding. I don't have a problem with that so Gekomind I am in! Just let me know what I need to to to join in.
Thanks.
So basically it's just no modding? Other factors (number of races, difficuty setting, nature of the galaxy) are all the same as for sandbox?
One question: What is the difference between a Metaverse game and a regular sandbox game? i know there are additional restrictions on a metaverse game, but could you please tell me what they are?
As I understand it the major races are all equivalent in game balance terms. So while Terrans miss out on stellar cartography they gain in other areas to compensate.
Very interesting, i didn't realise you had someone from WETA digital on your team. Though I guess it makes sense as GalCiv2 is very ... precious to me, though I abide the release date with great pain.
HK-47 yes! Musing: I wonder if it is possilbe to alter the Yor dialog so that all other life forms are referred to as meatbags? As HK-47 has said himself, referring to meatbags as "organics" is unacceptable...
Work and sleep mostly. Hang around the forum like a bad smell. Pine for GC2 and call it "The Preciousss". Incidentally, on the subject of the weather it is the middle of summer in New Zealand at the moment so it is warm and sunny.
Plitski Sin as a New Zealander I feel your pain about the release date. That's why I decided to order the game direct from Stardock, meaning I will be able to download and play on February 22nd (NZ time).
