Actually its been said by Frogboy that the AIs are at their best in larger maps. This is because their strengths are in their ability to optimze. To do that they need more space, and more planets. In smaller maps with fewer planets and less room to work, the AIs are actually at a disadvantage.

True, but for newbies who are trying to learn the game, its probably easier to colonize whatever they come across, after a while one starts to develop a sense of what is and sint worthe their effort. Another, custom build your ships! The generic ones they give you are not worth their weight in scrap metal. Also, tade routes can do wonders for your economy. Good luck to all of you future emperors!
Done! As my brotha from anotha motha says: "Vote or die!"
I agree Wheel, I have tried playing 4x games over a LAN, and its almost painful. Wait, scratch that, it is painful. That was back in the heyday of MOO2, with all the new options available now, it would only be worse. An email type multiplayer would be incredible! ~Fingers crossed~
You know, I told my student loan officer the exact same thing! But really, try setting up more trade routes along the path of all of your economy star bases. Thats a personal favorite tactic of mine... It can lead to some very serious cash very, very quickly. You have the foundation to do it. To guard against smaller lone ships, try just making a fleet of several ships. These ships can
Usually I leave that sort of stuff to my imagination. "But really Mr. Ambassador, our people love the secret police!" or "If you didn't want to be tortured, you Torrians never should have lost the war"
Well, Feud, since I am the older brother, which means I have more experience with life, I think I just will regard your post as a "newb" comment
We all were new to this game at one point. We all asked a question or had an idea that someone else had come up with before us. Someone probably looked at our idea and thought "Sheesh! Not this idea/topic again!" My point is, that since this game is still selling in stores and online, there are constantly going to be new members on the forums. Now yes, they should try to research their idea before throwing it out, but we should try to be a little nicer to the new guys. Nicely pointing a
Well, for being a carrier idea, this one isnt to bad! that being said, I have a few problems with the idea. Because of the way you get to custom build your ship I dont see the speed decrease and range increase being very effective (just add another engine) and I could see players spamming these ships in a fleet to rack up their "local fleet logistics". Heck, I know I would! Perhaps you could make a logistics boosting module? Make it a very late game tech and make it outrageousl
Yup first you have to have the technology (just you, not both sides) Then you have to have close relations with the race. Additionaly you may have to offer some incentive for them to accept (aka cash or tech)
In this game, it is very possible to become and arms dealer! I would warn you though, develop the ships with guns and protection that you have counters to. (ie if you have armor, install guns; if youre using lazers put on armor) Basically you want to be able to defeat the ships you sold with out much trouble. Theres nothing worse than staring down the barrel of a gun you just sold someone. Oh, and yes, you will never make money doing, but it is a good way to influence the AI to attack o
So say we all!
Same as the rest here, I tend to use 3-4 adv modules on my transports with lots of engines. One way to keep from totally depleting you planets is to build transports during peacetime, keep them pretty simple and cheap and station them deep inside your territory. Then as your populations grow, land a partially full transport on a planet and launch it again in the same turn with more people on board. You are essentially "culling" your population, but with this method, you always have full
Well gallagher, thats not quite true. One of my co-workers is from Venezuela, he has fond memories of sitting on the roof of his house with an AK-47 because Hugo's thugs were wandering around taking whatever they could from anyone who couldnt protect themselves. Chavez is far from loved in his own country. In fact good 'ol Hugo has a habbit of demolishing roads to prevent public transportation whenever a protest is planned. It tends to keep local populations in place, and prevents peopl
Hah! I knew Tom Chick couldnt be trusted! No really, I think the whole thing is just silly, but I doubt there is anything anyone can do or say except to just sit tight and ride out the storm. "Can't we all just get along?"
To be honest that sounds a lot like MOO2, which was a really great game. But I gotta back up carielf. I like the streamlined feel of scrolling in and out and not dealing with pop-ups.
Brad, to be honest one of the things that I love so much about GalCiv2 and everyone at Stardock is that you're really trying to make the game the best it can be! That being said, I would love for you guys to go out there and make the expansio/sequel you want to make. After all you set out to make GalCiv2 the game you really wanted and its carried you far beyond what you could have expected. As a fan, you folks have proved yourself to me time and again. With the street cred you've built
First off, Im sorry you were unable to avoid buying a game that obviously you have been unhappy with. Second, Im not sure what exactly you think is wrong with minor races. Again their appearance is random, and they are not meant to play like the najor races do. If your unhappy with the results of tech trading there is an option for you to turn it off. The value assigned to a particular tech is not exact, it changes depending on who you are, your diplomacy, etc. If a race does
Very simple Azrune! These forums are equiped with different sections, the one he is posting in is labled "Console Games: XBox" The recent posts doohickey puts up posts from all the forums, not just the ones relating specifically to GalCiv2. It bugged me at first too, you'll get used to it, now I kinda enjoy the random samplings the doohickey offers!
I like it! I have to agree with Gallagher and that it would nice for it to be a simple implementation. But kudos on that, nice idea... Maybe someone has come up with it before, but I'll be darned if I can remember it!
I can see both sides to the argument... and when I see somthing that i could go either way on, I tend to vote to keep things the same. My prefered stratedgy is to fight fire with fire, I throw small, cheap fighters against theirs... I dont know if this saves me money in the long run, but it works just fine.
Evil, I think you need to calm down, just because no one is agreeing with you doesnt mean you need to get insulting. Even Kryo said it "*was* off topic" I'm sorry you're unhappy it got put some where you didnt want it, but really thats where it belongs.
Feud, I always knew you were evil... now I have the proof.
Basically a pulse weapon falls into several different catagories: Sonic pulse: This currently being looked at by the American military as a possible new "soft weapon" a weapon that incapcitates instead of killing. Energy pulse: This one can really be placed into to sub catagories Light pulse: Basically its a pulsed laser, which can have the same effect as a laser but saves vastly on power consumption.
Simply put, yes, Lord Kona survives... at least no one mentions him dying so its a pretty safe bet hes alive.
