No, there isn't.
BTW why older version are completly removed ??
Probably to avoid confusion, and with so many different versions created by their continuous updates they would stack up quick.
The argument against having a variable level is this: What's the point of having a feature designed to unbalance the game if it isn't strong enough to unbalance the game? The initial post by Brad suggested pirates who can wipe out the defenses of the races, not merely inconvenience them. I would like to see, however, a slider or setting that determines how often they occur (rare, common, abundant, etc.).
Or even better, some way of modifying the even
Hey, American debt is what, $50 trillion? We're still operational (more or less). Perhaps the debt cap should be 50,000 bc?
9 trillion actually, which isn't much beyond what GalCiv allows (500 bc is 500 billion credits, or 5 trillion credits).
This certainly adds a little more to this issue, i'd like to see this option. But who underwrites the loan? I think it would be cool if it was the other races. This then could affect diplomacy and such. And if you refuse to pay, well, the collector turns up and takes your planet...War, the ultimate debt collector's tool. On the flip side, at various times one of the other races may want a loan and you could offer your services. Something like the lease screen would work fine
I had the Jagged Knife happen last night when I was on the brink of victory. They had more planets then all of the other races (excluding myself) combined! I quickly decided to go for an alliance victory since they took what had just taken me two hours to get. As for Mega Events in general, whenever people start complaining about them (especially when they call them game kiling or complain of the pirates) I think back with fondness on this thread: [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?fo
How about one of the Worms titles?
You could also get an old copy of Master of Orion 2. They can be pricey these days, but still fun!
Yeah, I didn't read the additional posts to your earlier reporting so I thought yours dealt only with the mini map. Oops.
I've noticed that when I group ships into a fleet and order them to move a distance beyond what they can move in one turn that it refuses to acknowledge the order. It doesn't crash the game, but it does make it annoying to move large groups of ships long distances as I must either send them as single ships, or I must babysit them every single turn. Anyone else getting this bug?
I'm only 23, looks like I'm fairly young for the group.
I would suggest Darwinia or DEFCON, both by Introversion Software. Neither requires the CD, both are RTS games (both have won numerous awards, Darwinia winning the 2006 grand prize at the Independent Game Awards). Both can actually run off of a USB drive if you really want to (I keep a copy of both on a thumb drive in case I'm ever stuck between classes with nothing to do).
As a political theorist I find your intro kinda funny, and would recommend you read Sandel for an interesting outlook on individualism in a structured community (how we claim to favor individual liberties but are often unwilling to give up the rights and benefits given by systems that require sacrifice of those rights for the greater good). In response to your question, there are two types of consumers. The first type are those who only want what is cheap and quick. They normally grav
I just sent the info off. Annoying, having played since the 2006 launch day without any major problem (except for being a victim of the early overheating issue) it's rather jarring to have the game suddenly no longer work. If a fix doesn't come soon I might have to reinstall...
I vote for January. I also think that an "I told you so" is in order: [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=162&aid=164321#1323302"]WWW Link[/link]
What do I want? Not much really: -Multiplayer -Carriers -Epic Generator
So learn from my mistake, boycott 'cinemaware marquee'
Well, they have done some good. They brought Darwinia to American retail, which doesn't require StarForce (or even the CD) to play. While I don't much like the program (especially after what they did to Stardock), it hasn't ever given me any problems, so I'm not to the boycott stage yet.
Well if i am not mistaken the reason for the civ cap is simply that the whole code for the AI is based on there being at max 10 races in the galaxy.
Perhaps, but if the code is built to also accommodate 8 minor races (plus any that show up mid game) it seems that it would be possible to put a couple more major races in. It would slow things down a bit perhaps, and they would have to change the UI a bit, but it seems like it woul
Feud, correcting mis-spelling's.....Evil Stormbringer would be so proud.... But your point is valid, let's not label anyone anything...thats how those threads survive.
Yeah, seeing as I have some of the worst spelling skills to ever befuddle man or beast it is kinda silly for me to point such things out. My excuse? It's my first
That epic generator sounds pretty awsome why wasnt it put into DA?
Read the link I posted.
Well actually, the earth only has enough resources. Lets say you make 100 armadas of various ships. If the Earth was made entirely of those raw materials needed to make tohse, you wouldn'y have an Earth. In other words, you would eventually deplete the entire Earth of resources, the only way to cope with this is asteroids. (and those never run out either in the game)
There is a possible exception to this (I'm not a physicist so someone correct me if I goof this up). We
Note, the link I posted only highlights Christian thinkers. This was not meant to imply that one religion producers more or better thinkers, it was only meant to illustrate the point I was trying to make. In any case, this thread seems to be a good example that the boards are still quite alive.
(Smart people are less gulible and more secular, they question things)
Saying that there is a relationship between intelligence and secular thought is not only incredibly inflammatory, but also flies in the face of a little thing that I like to call documented history. [link="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_thinkers_in_science"]WWW Link[/link] The list of great scientists who openly professed a belief in a higher power is both long and noble, and
I'll say that I'd rather have a better AI than the ability to recount my stories of beating weak AI opponents. The feature is something nice - for the future. The AI has to win out in this case.
Well, seeing as the feature was cut from DA nearly a year ago, and since DA was released seven months ago without it, it would seem that you got your wish.
Epic generator, thats not map editor is it? I really look forward to map editor
No. The epic generator was a proposed feature of the DA expansion. What it was meant to do was create a story at the end of the game that used the events of the game for it's subject matter. Basically it was an AAR generator. However despite early reports that seemed to be quite promising the feature got bogged down and was scraped. What r
