I noticed when I turned off tech trading that I stopped stealing techs. I used to steal techs as fast as opponenets would research them. Unfortunately, I you are way ahead in techs there is nothing for you to steal.

I beg to differ Saber. Parking two fleets off an undefended planet can be great. When ever a ship is created you destroy it and raise your HPs. I use the second fleet for replacements when one fighter gets more than 50% damaged. Then when tech improves upgrade these high HP monsters. Nothing like small ships with a 100 HP long before medium hulls is possible. I do this with minor races all the time and hate to finally have to invade them.

Is there anyway to speed up starbase damage recovery? The AI seems to by pass my fleets and try to take out my starbases to limit my range. The problem is it seems to take for ever for them to recover any damage. It is not like they can recoup in orbit like ships can.

Here is an idea I got after doing the DL campaigns. Mass driver / Core detonation attack low quality planets and pick up tech. Then give them back. Rinse and repeat. Once you defeat that opponent give them to the next. Nothing like a class 2 planet to screw an opponent up with. You can do this quickly with a planet like mars. Build transport then trade it away. Then invade and lower quality. Finally give it back when next transport is built and ready to retake it. AI never gets time to defend it

I had main 3 planets with big population so they are hard to take. If you loose one buy transports and quickly retake. Keep ships on the bottom middle of the map so DL dont kill them. On unprotected DL planets use mass driver invasions with quick transports. Then trade crappy planets away to Dreign cause the DL will take em back anyway. Soon they are like class 2 planets and you can take them quickly and get awsome techs each time.

I like keeping the three main planets and then mass driver attack DL planets in the center (use really fast transports). After I take them I give them to the Dreign until DL gets em back. They are quickly like class two planets that you can capture easily and pick up techs each time.

After I got advanced I turned off the spending because of the "no further spending needed" comment in the report section. After that I was stealing a tech about every 50 turns. I never research any long item my opponent is researching becuase I can steal the big ones faster than he can research them. Best bet is to put the min amount into the top competition and forget until you get to advanced. Once advanced if he has a lot of low junk techs you dont have then trade for them. That way you only

My problem is that minor races offer me unbalanced trades. I refuse because they are one sided (against me) but I know that two AIs are accepting unbalanced trades from time to time. This is the only way they get so many techs. I have to initiate trades constantly so that the trade offers are fair and I can keep up. This and trading with a minor race for everything I can get no matter the deal 1 move before destroying their planet. I would suggest assigning every tech a po

I like parking 2 fleets around a minor race world that i am at war with. Kill off what ever he builds 1 at a time. Put ships needing repair into second fleet and leave idle to heal. Attack with fresh fleet over and over and watch you hps go up. Did this with a lucky ranger once and its HP were unbeatable even against a fleet of battleships.

Build 1 factory, starport for defense if near front lines (don't waist time/money building anything just park 1 ship here to prevent invasions), the rest research. When finished upgrade factory to research. When done switch social emphasis button to research.

Don't put too much investment in farming. Zeno farming gets you max 8 billion people + the 5 bill you start off with. 2 xeno farms = 8+8+5 million and they will be big time unhappy. One good farm is all you should have on a planet or you will be spending all you time buildling entertainment centers.

I thought your population grew proportionally to the rate of morale until 50%. Then population growth stops. If you add a morale bonus the population starts growing again until it drops back to 50. This is why morale will be around 52ish unless you keep upgrading morale or are constantly dropping taxes. Removing people from a planet increases morale until the population gets back to where it was. Anyone seeing anything else?
