I too am a super pirate victim. It is pretty early on in the game. My strongest fleet has an attack strength of 9. Then pirate event happens, and a pirate fleet with an attack strength of 100+ shows up at my back door. Needless to say, this is not fun. The pirate event either needs to be removed, or fixed to not have such an imbalanced fleet show up. They could destroy everything in the entire galaxy with that fleet!

I would have been doomed with out my military star base a few games ago, I love them
The same thing happened to me after I installed that last update
I have only won by means of a diplomatic victory, 4 times in fact. Given a strong fleet of ships is really important, and I had more then a few wars on my hands, but in the end it was faster to make friends with those that were left, then kill them all. Thought I think I could have taken 'em all, it would have taken another 4-6 hours...
I was at the mall today in orlando FL, gamespot had 2 of them.
I have been able to win at the level above normal, but it takes some time. I would say more, but everyone has already covered anything that I could add.
I play zoomed out to the level that I can just see the starships and everything else well enough to tell what they are.
I am having a great time, and have not had any problems.
I think the good people at stardock are going to let all the first runs of the game download the CE extra stuff. There are a few posts about it around here, so look around, and if you can confirm it, I'd open it.
So, since I bought the CE box from stardock, I guess I have to wait for the box to get here to get the CE SN before I can download my extra stuff? Thanks.
cool, thanks for the heads up about the map editor.
Thanks for the fast reply, I am downloading the update now.
I CAN"T even see the last bit to download..... When I clicked on update game button, it took me to Stardock central, and there are no new files for me to download. Is this normal, or do I need to call tech support or sales?
What Frogboy said makes total sense...it is not wise to piss off your main customers (in this case the retailers and finally the people that will buy it at retail) I however bought my CD from Stardock becuase I like having the box, I was able to pre-load the game, I didn't have to dirve to the store, and I like the company. To me all those things made it worth the extra money.
Thank God the game is not out yet, I have 3 big midterms that I REALLY need to be ready for... At this point I only need to have the will to hold off playing for 2 days, and that is going to be hard enough...
Florida, USA...so I only have to wait until noon to download the game, too bad I will be too busy to play until my midterms are over.
It would have been nice for each race to have their own hulls, but I am sure having common hulls among races meant we got the game sooner. And maybe the common hulls also meant that they spent more time making the "extra" cosmetic stuff so we can make sure our ships look unique, sort of to make up for it.
Oh and if any of the other posters are interested, I was changed the $5 shipping fee at check out. (but I have yet to get a confirmation email, my guess is that they are waiting to change my CC first?)
I have 3 mid-terms that I am getting ready for...Darn MBA, getting in the way of video games...
