My local gamestop only had one copy in as well. They hadnt even unpacked the boxes when I got it. I was quite surprised considering they usually get more than one game even if it is a lesser know title. I walked out a happy customer with a copy of sins in one hand and a used copy of Burnout 2 for PS2 to complete my burnout collection in the other.

Yeah, that is the odd thing about 3D design programs. One you will get really well, while another you cant even use it. Me personally I found 3ds max to be very easy, while blender (after hearing about so many recommendations) is horrible unintuitive for me.

I honestly dont see the point in achievements. (The windows/xbox achievements.) Im glad stardock/ironclad is not supporting Windows Live. I dont want to have to pay a monthly amount just to play an online game that should be free like all other pc games (Yes I know there is silver, but they make you have to buy gold just to get some of the features that you will need.).

Well, finding tutorials is easy. Just a simple google search will turn up many. However for a first timer with no experience, the tutorials are of great help. You can teach yourself lots by just practicing. I did that with 3ds max and going to start with maya here pretty soon.

The 8800 is the better card. Actually its a VERY good card. 8600 is not that great of a card so go with the 8800. The one thing you need to make sure is that it will fit in your case. Its about 9 inches long or so, so you will need room for it to fit. Failing that, the ATI 3870/3850 (I think) Is a great card as well.

Well, modding for any game can be hard. Some are just harder than others. For SoaSe, modding shouldnt be too difficult compared to other games. Most things are in text files. The more difficult parts I would imagine would be creating 3D models and textures. It might be somewhat difficult, but all it takes is practice and getting to know how the modding works. Anyone can do it if they spend a bit of time.

I cant wait for the other tools as well. Have always wanted to make my own 3D spaceships, and this games seems to be simple and very robust in that respect. Should work out nicely. Hopefully, I can get a copy tomorrow from gamestop and start exploring the mod aspect, after I have played it a little.

Now that I think about it, that is a bit odd. I looked around and I think his model is the PCI express version and not the AGP version. On nvidia's site http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce6_techspecs.html On the table it shows a 6200 turbocache as PCIe. I think that is the correct model. @Panefuldeath: download CPU-Z http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-143.zip and extract it to your desktop. now run cpuz.exe (the one with the CPU icon). Then go to the mainboard tab an

Really, if you have an AGP slot you might considering upgrading your motherboard. That way you could spend some money on a good graphics card. That is the only thing holding you back considering you have a dual core processor and 2Gb of ram. Then you will have a PCI express slot to get a newer graphics card.

That would be a cool idea. Certainly would be unique and interesting. What about the ocean itself. Can it be a mesh where the ships ride just above it? Wouldnt you be able to see through it from the bottom?

That sucks that you have to use XSI to get models ingame. At least its free though. Hopefully I can export my models from 3ds Max and import them into XSI with the UV maps intact. Would rather not have to try and learn another 3d program. Is XSI fairly easy to do things like UV map and texturing? I tried out Blender so long ago and that was an example of horrid UI design. Much prefer 3ds Max and Maya for its easy and simple interface.

Yes, Stardock certainly has set an example of how Customers SHOULD be treated. Makes me wish other companies would do the same. They also know how to make fun and addicting games that seem to suck you in for hours on end.

Well here is what I would like to see 1: Asteroid fields that you can mine for resource bonuses. 2: Planet specific races like in space empires 4. You would have to research other techs in order to take over an ocean planet if you were on a gas planet. 3: Allow you the ability to colonize class 0 planets. Could build mines to increase money production. 4: Possibility to play on even larger maps. ( I think it would be kinda interesting ) 5: Expanded tech tree. Inclu

It should not mess with your licensing if you edit the files. The only thing that you must stay away from is the metaverse folder. If you alter the files in there, it will cause the game to be flagged as a cheater and the scores will no be submitted. Also I beleive that if you do edit the main game files, then any future patch might right over the changes you did to those files. That is what the mod folder is for, but the devs are still working on the

I think that it would be fun aswell. I know that the gigantic map is very large, but i think it would also be cool to have an epic size map that is bigger than gigantic. It would probably be better as a mod though, so that you can add in new techs and more diversity.

I have been thinking over possible ship designs that i want to add and had a question about the different hull sizes. At the top of the hull screen you can select Tiny, Small, Medium ETC as a hull size up to huge. Is it possible to had a new tab that read Massive as a Hull size? I think it would be cool to create massive dreadnoughts as a base hull that would be incredibly expensive to buy and research and the maintance would be to the poin

I actually had a question about the new components. Are they just jewelry for your ships or are they new technologies that can be researched. By the way guys great job on the game. I cant stop playing it and i have finals next week. Must... Study...

I just took a look at the model and i have to say it was very helpful in learning how to model and the necessary points that are needed to use the components. Nice job. Cant wait for the tutorial.

Wow that will be nice to have. I alsways find that if you have a model that is ready to export, it is easier to learn what is needed and how it should be placed on the model for it to work properly in game.
