Since i'm very deep into testing my mod (most of the time & since at least two months back!) for a number of add-ons (new technos & buildings) and verification of variable settings to determine if the values selected for AI personalities (huge gaps in some cases) and abilities (mostly boosted to the rim) fare well enough against X-Com_Magnetic_Apocalypsion races and also their Major counterparts Shado_Interceptors_Thunderbirds... i can only share this much if it should really matter; Ye

So, what you're saying is that in a sortof "Twilight" kinda way, all if not most of the ongoing trade-routes happened to be on starting turns **simultaneously** at that precise moment in history!?! Gee, random luck is normally weird enough -- but , it makes sense that the general compiled figure would drop drasticly in such a rare condition. There's no way to control how fast or when these trader-ships finish their routes to reflect resulting BCs in the budget side of things; distances,
So, indirectly, the placement of any Spy (at any time) is a sort of DL activation of the previously available espionage slider, right? There is no "clear" way to verify this unless the popups start to rollout about race X or Y, etc - though. And, i was preciously keeping those agents handy waiting for the opportunity to nullify others while i could have been receiving precious info on AIs! Darn, i must revise my espionage tactics and start dropping a few if i want to get these details. Other
Coming from YOU, fox... i'm even confident it is. Lots of reading yet to do and much more actual software testings -- but i'll get there, sooner than never. btw, NastyTang - that DirectX Viewer is a really nice tiny screwdriver added to my toolbox. Thanks.
Yo - i think that if you do real justice to the genuine Futurama stuff... it promises to be quite an hilarious ride for anyone willing to dive into the context. Strictly speaking, there's much more underneath these characters than meets the eye (pun intended!) - that fact alone provides huge design potential.
Hold it, not sure about this but here goes anyway; Going from DL to DA, haven't we lost the 'espionage' sliders in the Foreign/Report(s) screen where we could adjust the level of spying individually? Wasn't this feature pulled off to make room for the true Spies placing schema? Cuz, i swear, i have absolutely no way to control HOW my espionage points gets spent on race X... and the only time i ever got a pop-up telling me about getting some info (lowly levels) is when a war
Alright, Edward... went to I-Mod and registered. Let's see what comes of that new source of information. So far, that place looks pretty nifty and may just be what i will need later on. Thanks for the link. (PS; I had already made a quick visit overthere before, and decided to wait -- it looks that now was the time to react!)
Kay all... so far, so good. The DirectX SDK, yup this is ANOTHER thing i would have to install - just to see if it may just fit the contract. And yet, my drives are still filling up with candy bars and sour cream. See, the answer lies more in MY willingness to work at it -- the easiest way. After all, the task will certainly be a heckofaride. Patience. Time. Sweat. Ya know!! I will happily continue this quest until i reach the goal; provide this commu
F..O..R..E..V..E..R! And, here's why; - Best quality and replayability factors for the buck. - Superb customer support by people who DO care. - Rather unique gameplay experiences if one considers what true TBS is exactly. - I like Sci-Fi stuff, anything. ;)
There are a LOT of variables which can affect how Ai's economies develop; starting extra-abilities, government switching, buildings, morale, and a huge number of different values for many other things. When i was designing X-Worlds, it mattered much to me that the financial side could be adapted to any races all the way from Minimal to Maxed out as compared to the player percentage (AKA, normal setting). I figured 110% to all would provide a reasonably challenging context; not SO!!
The frustration comes more about ME not having the stupid extra-cash to encourage this specific shareware as opposed to the hundreds more which may be nice enough but not worth any of the money invested, in all honesty. Tough choices to make_made, as an example... I bought VGA_Planets (somehow pretty similar to GC1, btw) from Tim Wisseman back in 1993! And happily gave the whole 15$ to Everett Kaser for Sherlock in 92, also. Yup, DOS stuff... the good'ol days. And
Looks great... as a temporary asset until we can all get the genuine TA editor, worth to try. Thanks. ;)
Yippie! :) April 23rd; checked mark on the calendar. Money order cash of 29.95$US (peanuts for that incredible expansion and its highly anticipated editors +++ everything else announced and still being worked on right now!); in hand and ready to go. Ooops -- envelope & stamp. Check too. Better then than never or slightly later, i'd say. And what if this WAS supposed to happen sooner... for our patience, we get the very best and much more than first
Oh yeah... Milkshape. It's true, it actually DID load up anything i could throw at it including GC models by going through the DirectX MeshTools utility given. Again, one small problem; can't use it anymore!! Trial-Time (UN-Registration) lapsed. Bye-Bye. Really_Very_Highly FRUSTRATING, if you ask me.
Alrighty... i figured some biggy soft (3dsmax) had to be around somewhere in the design hopes anyone should ever have. Only prob is, that stuff is very costly. There's even the 'free' version called Gmax but i doubt the Panda exporting plugin would be somehow truly compatible with it (yet, i could always try just to see if i can get lucky!). I also took a quick snappy glimpse at Blender (Python scripting may be the solution for some, but to me a fair enough 3D tool MUST have
I feel like i was simply repeating your drift, pndrev! :) Coincidental postings are sooooo much fun, at times.
Yes, although you'd have to perform keyboard gymnastics in great length just to have an xml edited in a notepad-kinda-way. Tedious task, and yet possible. All you need is thorough knowledge about the file features and how lines are called up... and then, type whatever values you'd wish. Sorry but that would be the 'only' way, as of now (without the new TotA map-editor, of course). There's also a shareware in the library (...IDE.exe or somethin') which claims to do proper map editing
As i am getting "almost" ready to begin developping the X-Worlds (Sorry, LordZarth.. had to!!) ships and fleets i still have an issue with the .X file formatting and programs which could actually handle them properly. Mind you, i looked around very seriously for the solution & through testings and trial runs on numerous sharewares-freewares versions... i have yet to find anything that can load SD models and simply provide the extra functions and features necessary to crea
Thought so, it's just that there has to be someone out there which maybe figured out a way to simply setup such a gizmo on their system or somethin'... by luck. But, if you say that TotA may provide me an indirect way to have a sort-of local Metaverse to enjoy and keep track of some "important" things, then i don't really need to bother with setting the personal LAN version for myself. Anyhow, it is certainly great stuff and one more essential addon for the overall GC experience by SD
Has anyone tried to implement a localized alternative pseudo-Metaverse on their PC to keep track of some gameplay experiences? And if so... how would someone set it up properly?
Blockade, Embargo, Trade-In(s) routes from anyone/to your planets instead of your own Trade-Out(s) to anyone?? Sometimes, an Ai route may 'discontinue' according to fresh war conditions which DO affect your network of trader-ships. Although, AFAIC, the event does warn of route losses caused by considerable danger in specific map zones. Noticed any input variations from some Terran routes? And, i doubt all your trading with everyone BUT the Terran is safely happening outside the
+ FIXED: The text on the tech tree screen will now size itself so that the font will be the largest size possible while making the longest tech name fit into the box
Perrrrfect... one complaint i had with how DA presented us (somehow) with the tree variations (width and font ratios could collapse word on strange off-shoot lines!) has now been solved for TotA. Thanks.
Hey, i won't. I don't. I shouldn't, either! ;) X.
I'd say... bring on Bonaparte, Khan & Kamikazees and we've got ourselves a pretty nice pattern for war tactics which the AIs ****may**** (and, i theorize this very carefully, btw) just be lethal enough to put any Drengins to shame. Gamewise, i would add that the most reasonable asset an algorithm can show for is exactly in the same veins as what is being used right now; retaliation based on best available targets as it compares to pointless directions. Frustrating as it may seem,
And the adventures continue... After receiving the tax-return money, got me a 'better' Video-card yesterday and snapped it in. It's a simple low-range GE6200 (At 50$, here in Quebec it's a fair price) which nicely upgrades the old PC i own for now (until i find more cash to buy a much more recent system later this year, somehow!) Kaboom, almost everything went awry after that. XP boot screen would freeze and i could only slip through from F8 safemode sessions. Bof, weirdo stuff
