Oh, it's a very simple 'thought'. If you are at the standard zoom level the whole time and only trying to pin-point at a specific location where many hard-points are bunched together - it becomes VERY hard to attach anything anywhere. By slowly step-zooming(s) onto the exact spot... the targeted Hard-point is much easier to reach while your currently cursor-attached component may look a lot bigger. Small annoyance compared to the "hovering" shifts that inevitably occur when the model is

A space odyssey has just ended and our real Universe will never be the same without such an incredibly talented Force of the mind. Sleep well, master. - Zyxpsilon.
Darn, i wanna have my Income-Tax refund now. I may just have to simply pre-order this very soon, cuz it really looks & feels like the pinnacle of Galactic bash party. Monumental, might well be a better term for THE expansion. ;) - Zyxpsilon.
There's MS_Gates and then, there is... Which is exactly why i'd plunge my hands into a truly designed (and available by choice) by SD staff -- Giga/scale Economic victory also! Say, bazillions of BCs in the bank and counting... once the game itself suddendly realizes the tide is (somehow) irreversible. ;) - Zyxpsilon.
Knowing these values are proportionally determined at creation time, i doubt you can "modify" the random numbers by using different settings... BUT, - Less abundant on such a Bigger map could *possibly* even up the gamble a little closer to your hopes. Not exact amounts, but just slightly lower enough to get the wanted feeling. - Grids (at setup time) have a knack for wider clusters and eventually, could indirectly lower the count as much. - There's also the good'ol lesser-habit
Mumblefratz, The YOR are probably going to buy you out soon, unless you defeat every last and many - in a hurry! :) :) - Zyxpsilon
Bump... dunno if this may be IT - but, i somehow possibly found a common link to this issue; YOR personality race tags. More testing to do. Still, it IS strange. - Zyxpsilon.
Outch, welcome to the group of people who feel 'helpless' once they begin to design some ships in that interface and its built-in processes. One thing i've learned from experiencing through a LOT of pre-fleet tryouts for my mod is that the activity is somewhat tougher than it seems. Mind you, i consider myself a fairly good 3D modeler since most common issues with regular dedicated 3D softwares aren't secret to me anymore because i worked a lot at it over the years. Nurbs, splines and t
Bump... putting a new link for the above since it seems i can no longer edit these old posts and i needed to fix the personal web-space. ***** ^ ***** - Zyxpsilon.
Still working very hard at it... just last week, i went on a rampage with the technology tree and ya know what - (similarly to the new TA multiple variations), you simply won't recognize the DL/DA defaults. Most tech slots have been renamed, some calibrated with different values/costs/effects, with entirely new nodes and pathways. I'd say the mod will in fact become some kind of semi-TA type of stuff tailored straight in_&_out for DL. Huge endeavor, lots of analysis and caref
This may be more about how the game implies my knowledge of some features, but i figured these annoying issues have been bugging my mind long enough and i'd wish for some kind of an explanation; 1) The space miner doesn't really automate from the toggling switch found in its menu options. Once research is complete for ex..Mining-II, IMO, it should automatically (which i understand as being just that, an automatic process!) kick out of idle mode and get busy on the nearest field
Help me, please... ;) While fixing_editing this file with some new Icons/Queries gfx references, i noticed a few extra-lines which seems to have been carried over from DL and aren't exactly active or valid (Pain Amplifiers, etc). Is it safe to simply delete these altogether? Some have the rem (!--) tags applied & others are still there for no apparent reasons. And a second question; What is the proper location for a modded version of this file that inten
Damn, Zyxpsilon, have you ever made a post that not once included the word "X-Worlds"?
:) :) :) Noyessy, kinda! I am completely absorbed by the task(s)... and it shows when i must figure what to answer to anything. I'd even say that modding (in general terms) GC actually adds value to the overall experience - including all the other wonderful stuff made by a LOT of people as one can witness in the library. And with TA blasting its way in our "lives"
Quicky comment - I have tried MMO, a few times... AoK, Civ2 and what else and what comes forward in my mind as a common impression is these short sentences; - LAN, p2p, firewalls (UDP-ports included) are techno gizmos tricky enough for the cpu'impaired. - Chat message #1; "How oldar yo?" - Click, Offline. That's the last ANY Multiplayer stuff have seen of me, ever since. There is absolutely NOTHING more a game can give me other than locally maintained TBS
Simple: 1) Who and how many exactly i'm up against (according to THEIR shown and selected alignment). 2) What victory i aim for once my own alignment has been frozen along with my destiny. Don't be fooled by the smoke screens; - IF you want power - invade & destroy... - IF you want control - buy out & spread around the widest possible territory... - IF you want Peace - find the good races fast to either alliance yourself with or die later... - IF you want to win -
Third that, if it really matters... but, - I want some type of Spy-base(s) on any PQ1 planets, by choice. - I also would love a true sabotage option; for inflicting some damages (which CAN be repaired like ships in space) to surface buildings. - And, the infamously insane Infiltration skills; indirectly, we already have that one. BUT, make it more powerful or evident. Reports and stuff are fun to receive, although i sometimes wished for an interactive menu which gives options su
Yup, BoogieBac, and since we all must cope with priorities ourselves, i'd say the only way to be reasonably good at it is to flip a simple coin and see (or wish real hard about) what happens! ;) Just take my huge development plans for X-Worlds -- during the last few months i've been tossing the thoughts so much, my brain feels like gelly at times. Although lately, i made a lot of progress with surface tiles Icons/Queries sets and the entirely new TechTree(s) of X-Com. Key
Yes, there is... but it's a bit "complicated". Most of the data found in DA files is similar both in format and in values while new features must be entered either manually or by loading such a race straight into a **TEMPORARY** editing slot without even starting a new game. Two hints that might help for this process; - Pre_view any stock race files by comparing their xml content and take notes about what new or differently configured lines are there. This analysis wou
And, that's really toooo bad, pndrev! Although pure random has its appeal, at times. Just trying to figure out how to simply implement two extra type of upgradable terrains (Coastal Integration & Harshland Conditioning techno related surface tiles) within DA concepts of grey_scale raws and height fields gap restricted to built-in defaults is and has been a serious "flaw" to my modding attempts for X-Worlds. Here, crossing fingers for the "new" TA system & methods. Now, placing
A redundant_repetitively and annoying Research Robot waving its arms at me every time i discover somethin' game after games in GC2, has to be one of those! But i actually DID stop them all by creating my very own set of static custom bik movie(s) for every last and first Evil & Good & Neutral -- Human or Alien versions there *was* as defaults. There is also the case for a swifty "general" gathering of game-info multiple summary instead of continual wide screen popping anytime for
Dunno if that could help... But, IF your mouse gets its valuable 'interface stepping routines' out-of-the-box (so, to speak) it is pretty much evident to me that the problem would have more to do with how Vista keeps tab over it even when in fullscreen mode with the latest Nvidia drivers. The tricky case i'm trying to make with the above is that, invariably, when the OS unlocks (or reserves it, in a sense) the required heap for the game, it absolutely must do so within a reason
Observation (beside the point)... if Vista grabs a whole 1748MB worth of pagefile even on such a highly modern system - i won't EVER buy it. But, moosetek may just be absolutely right... GDI mousing in a full-screen different from the desktop default can messup the relative coordinates of just about anything. Your cursor is simply trying to get away from an 'invisible' area - to the current game interface, that is. A number of other things could create a similar issue, but try
UTF8 and typos don't get along even if created within Notepad. My guess is that the xmls you are saving aren't properly structured and thus, the game can't recognize the heap_stack calls they cause, indirectly that is. You could try a number of things; 0- Install Edit-Plus (shareware, from the web somewhere), load the file(s) in it with "hidden tags ON". And see if the code-tabs haven't being accidently written over by even just a single ASCii ghost-character somewhe
Hey, think i may have figured out this whole mess - somehow, maybe. It seems this problem started to happen when i was trying to find some 'good' sharewares to do two different things; create the race movies in a reasonably powerful video editing program & starting the work on the X-Worlds modeling of ships through extensive 3D files (all of this from scratch) editing. So, i went on a rampage to find and multi-install whatever needed to be tested and then make a final ch
Get the latest, it would be somehow easier to cope with the long wait expected for a GC3 version, if ever! 75% of the gaming value is directly tied with the kind (and replayability, btw) of fun you may or could have straight out of the gate... the remaining 25% is HOW much. :) TA looks very promising which is why i already have the money order reserved and just waiting for SD to announce the official release date of the 'final post-beta' version to buy it. Possibly by month's end
