I noticed the same thing today. You are not alone.

Whoops, running the latest version on Stardock Central, 1.20.035.
Yeah...I'm Neutral, and when I'm trying to make deals I can't even see Subspace Rebounder in the list. I actually accepted to see if I'd get access to the tech anyway. I didn't.
Aww, man. I would LOVE a Dungeon Keeper 3. The last one is definitely looking dated...and Evil Genius just plain wasn't as fun...even though I find it impossible to identify why.
You say the bonuses are more 'generic' when compared to Civ4, but Civ4 has only...what is it? Eight or ten, or so? And it's true that the bonuses in Civ4 are far more significant, but you also get fewer of them. And you complain about balance, too, but I never wanted to play Civ4 as anybody but Ghandi, myself.
It's because the core design ships are static, always the same. They will be just as good as ships you can build only if you have exactly the right tech levels in all areas to build them -- but that doesn't ever actually happen. By the time you have the tech for the ship's weapons, for example, you could be way ahead in miniturization, and so the static design is no good for you.
This is definitely awesome news. Ubi Soft makes some truly excellent games, and their recent use of Starforce really bothered me.
Yeah...I never use any invasion tactics except Information Warfare and Mini-Soldiers, and the last only very rarely, because I don't want to destroy everything. Still, while I was conquering the Drath today, almost none of their planets HAD factories to start with. They had planets with four farms and no factories. (They also had a planet where they were upgrading a farm to a factory, with the next item in the queue was upgrading a factory to a
Well, two of your points only tell half the story. Just as you get more people to put on troop ships, you also get more defensive troops when an enemy invades. The reason you get more votes is because that planet's influence is greater, which pushes the boundaries of your influence farther out. I put at least one farm on every planet size 7 or above, if only for invasion defense.
I THINK the actual "Starships" ability is planet-specific, and only applies to ships built at that planet. I've never gotten it high enough to do anything, so I can't say exactly what it does. The Weapons and Defense abilities are empire-wide traits that affect all your ships -- and are amazing when you get them up to 100% or higher. I have single ships beating fleets of nine. Sure, my ship is much more advanced than any of the 9, but it's m
...Or, you know, just turn it off in SDCentral. For me it was off by default, actually.
I tend to let the AI grab it. I'd rather spend my quick-build starting capital on better planets -- and I certainly end up with my 'Mars' in my possession very soon anyway. (Usually, I'll end up just attacking the civ that grabbed it.)
So I got the option to research Arnorian Battle Armor, which is apparently an extremely awesome type of mass-driver armor. However, I don't see it in my ship design screen. Is it a bug, or am I missing something?
Some civilizations are extremely difficult to flip, others are incredibly easy. I flipped just about the entire Korx empire in about 30 turns from the time my first constructor built an influence starbase.
I'd like to have a little more info on this, too. I went to design an upgraded battleship once and...there it was. My jaw dropped. I won the game with them.
