ive heard of something similar due to a UP decision to make constructors have a base speed, but the effect of it actually set the speed of all constructors to whatever number was voted on. so it could be something like that, but if it is i doubt you'd have the difference between having 4 and 5 for speed. thats the only help i can offer though, its the only time ive heard of anything similar
i have no idea what you are saying, the sliders are easy to figure out, you set an overall spending, say 10bc, then you determine how much of that 10bc go towards research, military or social. 50% research, sends 5bc to research, and then 25% for social and military mean 2.5bc to each of those, so im not sure what you are saying.
eh, i dont really like the akira, but thats just me, it looks great, i just never really liked it as a ship, the exima is awesome, i like that its got a nice streamlined look that is just great. its nice to see the non canonical ships because it adds the extra flavor and new designs
its meant to be that way, yes while you spent money on espionage, that doesnt mean you know the subtleties of their culture, so you can still make a dumb mistake and screw up, that comment at the end of the event, isnt serious, that if you did, that wouldnt have happened, it just means that, your people screwed up and its too late now.
i agree and dont really like it, but to support you, using a "real life" example from a tv show, in the world of battlestar galactica, the pegasus has production facilities to make more vipers which are only fighters but it has the ability to ship build, and they just stockpile resources before leaving somewhere. so it technically could be possible.

you cant have them autoupgrade for 2 reasons, it is alignment related, so you dont hvae to research xeno ethics ever it could be anytime, so you might have discovery spheres and still not have the NLC's and 2 because of the ethics reason its not in the science tech line, its in the diplomacy/influence tech line, and you could rush xeno ethics and probably get it before the research academies, so it could show up anywhere in the game so they cant have it upgrade, since it wont always upgrade from

no, because if you invade somewhere and say they leave behind their uber-gun, there is a thing called reverse engineering. you have the one gun, so you can probably figure out how it is made by reverse engineering, thats not saying you know anything more about the tech before or after it, you can just manage to make copies of this one gun you found, it makes perfect sense. same thing applies with engines, or shields whatever.
would you ever sell one of yours if they asked you? i mean you could say yes, and then destroy the base, go to war with them, taking it back, but thats just evil, in real life if you really had to risk war, you'd never sell it, if you were really in charge of a civ and it was real it wouldnt happen, and thats the way they are reacting.
awesome, i think this is my favorite yet, and i would call that pretty finished, dont think you need to change it at all, it looks awesome, the third picture of it in the game, is just perfect, love it, im using a 128mb video card, i forget what else my computer has but ive never had problems running anything.
nice look, i like the lights on the top, and the 4 nacelles non canon ships are sometimes the best because people are able to just be creative. can't wait for that almost on the soveriegn to be -finished. keep it up, that 20-30 pack of ships sounds great.
i liked both versions of the flyer, but this one looks good because it seems a little worn and used, sometimes the nice sparkly new look is good but its also nice to see some beat to crap models that look like they've seen some action. as mentioned before just let me know when you want to start beta testing these, i cant wait for them

i agree its a little low for everything, but thats why i usually leave them intact, i guess you can think of it as think of all the effort your people would put into decommissioning it, you could just blow it up and leave, but they would likely take it apart bit by bit to scrap it, and that is time and cost intensive, so looking at it that way, a lot of money would be lost because of that, i doubt thats what stardock had in mind but im trying to defend an insanely low cost somehow
well id like to point out that (not sounding all star warsy, just a good example) one tiny x-wing destroyed the death star, MAJOR difference in size. just saying that the little ships can do more to a big ship then you would think
mine didnt work but it went through everything else and retried and worked fine too. so id say try that.
i cant survive without a mil. they always jump on you for being weak. and so what if you've never seen huge hulled ships? that depends on the tech rate, and on what direction people go on the tree, if you aim for that you can get them fairly quickly. in the new version the ai does upgrade their starbases very well too. and in the metaverse games you wont see any dreadlords, unless im mistaken, there will never been any, unless they have an extremely rare exent that lets them in. in 20 ish games,
speaking for the whole colonial fleet, we're waiting for the recalc, its hurting everybody right now, except for maybe the very bottom mv players, so that recalc would be nice. but the whole older version thing is still an issue, im thinking reverting to that would be a good idea till they re-jig the scores, because at least then they would be higher, and more like the old scores

you can change the sfx if you want, you can change the sound for battles, you can change everything, there is already a upgraded phasor effect in the library.
