Well done guys all round to do so well despite the distribution "issues". Again, much kudos for the enlightened and logical stance on "removal of fair use" (aka DRM). This is the first PC game I've purchased since 2004, and that was a factor. That and lurking on the forums for a few months building up confidence on what the responsiveness will be lik
Monkey Pants
Heh. I got mine Monday as well. All I could think was, "One of the people at Stardock TOUCHED this!" I didn't want to throw away the shipping envelope. Now I regret that I did... ::sigh:: I think somebody needs to get out more. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" b
No, not quite that simple. There's also a cap on planet population according to class, but I can't remember the figures for it. Also with such a high population and no entertainment, morale is going to be sub-zero levels and you'll have all sorts of problems.. Quickly followed by the planet not being a problem at all since someone else will take it from you or they'll rebel!
I sincerely doubt it's a bug. However, I agree it would be nice to specify balances for individual planets. At the moment specialisng planets is useless and counter-productive. As you say, a 100% military planet and a 100% research planet can at best both run at 50% efficiency if you want both of them doing something useful. Picked up a new planet and want to build it up? Sorry, you'll have to decimate research & military sp
1 - No no no no no no no no no!!! 2 - Cloaks and the like tend to really ruin things. In essence you have a fleet of 100% invincible ships if the enemy doesn't have a counter. Maybe they could have a bit more depth, such as missiles/mass drivers/beams working in different ways, but if you add much more than there is at the moment you're adding little more than complexity and giving the AI a hell of a problem. 3 - Billions of tons
Yes, the lasers/shields example there is another reason why (if the trading AI is smart enough) you can't really say what a tech is worth, since in theory it can change depending on what else is or isn't on the table. I think what might work, and might be enough for us is to give us a button to press that does to the effect of "given what we have suggested for trade with the AI, what is the money they want to pay/be paid in addition", with a
I don't think it's really that easy to say "tech X is worth Y". Things to consider: -Laser III is going to be worth much more to someone without any Laser tech than it is to someone with no Laser tech -Laser III isn't going to be worth as much to someone who's way up the tech ladder in missiles and has no current need to change. -Terraforming isn't worth much to a guy with one mostly empty planet, but someone with 5 fullish planets
Hey, if he's reviewing the final version, why does his lord vega look so different to mine? Link
Yes, use something other than a cargo hull and you'll be ok.
The valus in brackets is what multiple of the native influence is being exerted on the planet. Eg a value of 2 means your influenece on that planet is twice as strong as their own. Once you get to 4, there's a chance to revolt, and it increases in liklihood as the figure increases.
1) I've seen that before, but when buying outright a big expensive planetary of one kind or another. I wondered if I'd been set up with an automatic loan or something, but never thought much about it. 2) Think of them as gift tokens. Either... ....take them back for a refund (sell them back) or replacement (ships of your choice) or ....
When you said that new outpost colony was really going places, I didn't think that you meant literally!!
I get that too, I thought it was a problem on my laptop. The GalCiv2 theme works great with everything other than GalCiv2 itself! The window frame gets allocaed but not drawn, showing what was there before.
Even on the lowest levels I have it pop up messages saying that they know exactly what I'm up to, but I'm lucky that their generals are too dumb to do anything about it. Hahahahaha. Funny stuff.
I've got a planet out of a peace treaty before. But then I immeddiately declared war again, and he got wise to it and didn't offe rme another planet. Hahahahaha! I've never had anyone far enough above me in tech to get anything serious there, but I've got well into 5 figure BC settlements.
Not complaining - it's still good stuff, but shouldn't the arrows be facing the other way?
I thought rings have research bonuses and moons a production bonus, something like 5-10% I think? Too lazy to look it up. I really should pay attention to that as much as I do to individual tile bonuses.
Yeah, ten thousand of customers will come up with far more "why the hell did you even TRY that??" things that the dev team wouldn't. Work in development or support for more than a week and you find that out all too well.
What hardware? Which drivers? Anything? Give the devs a chance to help you! I've read of at least one Win64 user working fine here, so it can't be a general inability to play under Win64.
The campaign is as much about introducing you to the game as it is about the story. A lot of stuff is removed at first so you're not totally overwhelmed. Play a normal sandbox game and you'll find everything there ready to be developed!
The way I see it, is that anything habitable is worth the cost of a colony ship and a few people. Worst case scenario you stick a farm and some economy on there are you get a smallish but happy colony that puts your approval rating up, while giving you a small income. If they were available, I'd even go for a PQ1 planet, even if only to serve as another target for them to hit, and a refuleing depot.
Game Strategy - Technology Outsourcer So having played a few games, this is a strategy that I've found working well on with a large number of races, and I've got it working as high as normal difficulty (not tried intelligent yet). I don't think it'd work well in a small map with only one or two opponents, and haven't tried it. Anyway, the general aim is to run the research for the whole galaxy to the point where they come to rely on you tota
The game I just played had one of the two minor races become probably the 3rd biggest economy in the galaxy. Very agrssive with trade, and built nice fleets of ships to defend himself with that were at least as good as anything anyone else could have thrown at them. Maybe that was because I was using him as a tech fund - unlike the majors I wasn't concerned about him using weapons tech to attack me, so I sold him things I wouldn't sel to the others.<br
Amazing. You can read "bug" reports (probably only 1/4 of the ones I've read are genuine - the rest are wrong, a misunderstanding, or user error) but not the post talking about all the fixes in the patch to be issued today or early next week. Also, you're the one who was talking rubbish about the game before, and everything you was saying was in complete opposition to reality, saying GC2 didn't have some things it did in fact have, etc.
What is a Drengin? Target practise!
