Actually, from the sound of things, I'm a little worried about the 1.1 version. I agree, the fact that it's BETA means that there will be bugs for now...that's neither here nor there...they'll be fixed by these folks I'm sure. My biggest concerns are "slow performance" and the tweaked population algorithm. Slow speed is just a killer (let's face it, that's one of the knocks about MULTIPLAYER). If the performance is going to suffer, you can imag

Nice guide, though I'm not sure the political comments on the ethics topic were really all that necessary. He's just sharing how he came up with the idea. He's not justifying what happened a long time ago, he's just pointing out that it would be cool if we could make similiar ethical and uneth
I'm no GalCiv expert but from my experiences with GalCiv I, and GalCiv II, I've discovered that if you are a new player, and you have all the AIs set to normal, you are more than likely to get wiped out. Set the AI's to low, learn the basics of the game such as colonizing quickly (very important), managing the economy, boosting research, what are good techs to learn, etc. After winning a couple games on 'beginner' then set a couple of the races to 'n
Congratz StarDock. Oh and CTB123 I revised your list a little for you. I hope you do not mind. Galactic Civilizations II - 9.0 Civ IV- 9.4 Battlefield 2- 9.3 Guild Wars- 9.2 F.E.A.R- 9.1 Grand Theft Auto, San Andreas- 9.0 Brothers in Arms, Road to Hill 30- 9.0 Edited to add this quote from Gamespot: "Suffice it to say that Galactic Civilizations II is different in many ways than Civ IV, but stands next to it as one of the all-time
I've seen it happen in my first game and it actually happened three times (me getting all three). Needless to say it happened so early my opponents had nothing to counter it and I went on for an easy victory. I was playing on a beginner difficulty level since it was my first game.
My favorite way to declare war is to blow something up. Usually an enemy freighter, a transport, constructors, etc. It usually gets their attention. Last night I declared war on the Drengin's by landing troop transports on a class 15 planet. I'm not sure if there's a way in the diplomacy screen to declare war (there probably is) since I never go that rout
I think it's great! It pretty much forces you to focus your research on certain techs, and for me that makes each game different and every race that much more unique. And the ship design...how can one not like it? It's brilliant, and it's really not that difficult to design a decent looking ship. Take a hull, put a couple wings on it, add engines, weapons, life support, and start construction.
Me too! Can't wait to start playing!
