Conquest is one of the ways I prefer most. I've found a high population growth rate is very important. It increases the tax income fast allowing for rapid expansion.
I got a planet of either 24 or 28 quality going at the moment. It's got a population near to 45 billion. With the economic capitol on it it's giving me a good 1k BC a turn last I checked.

I've always been able to get it up to 700ish+ a turn. I don't know what others make but I don't consider that spare change.
Well I don't make them a high priority other than the resource bases. However, when I have the time and extra starports to make the constructors I crank them out and create a lot of economic bases throughout my empire. Especially around the starport equipped planets. A few economic bases with social/military/research bonus modules can really boost the production. Constructors in 1 turn. Tiny fighters in 2. Small in 3. etc, etc, They can make you a military powe
Is it just me or do the larger planets tend to have fewer and fewer tiles with bonuses? I've hardly ever seen a 16+ planet with manufacturing bonuses.
That's what I did. Bite off as much as you can. If you choke on it just reduce it next time.
I'll try to answer a few. Don't pass up small planets. You will be surprised at how many quality ship producing planets are low in planet quality number. At worst they are a set it and forget it economic boost. For technology. Find the ones that suit your playstyle best obviously. I prefer playing with 70% population bonus for my civilization. This keeps my tax revenue growing rapidly so I can research military and social production technologies. Early on don't re
Your computer sucks or has some other problem. Since the very first patch went out the door I've had 2 crashes. Ever.
I pre-ordered the game and got the special extras that came with it. I haven't played in some time though and I had to reinstall the game a long while back. I just realized that I no longer have these extras and don't remember how to get them back. Anybody able to walk me through getting them back?
There are two things that come to mind. 1 - It's a bug. 2 - Maybe the AI knows of a trick. Upgrading buildings takes signifigantly less time than building them new doesn't it? I've never upgraded over a starport so I don't know but maybe it possible that it doesn't matter if you just upgrade to a better version of that building. Maybe by building a starport in 2 or 3 turns first and then upgrading to say a factory actually c
so what are the odds we can get a dedicated place on this site to put screenshots of our ships? The one thread for it is cool but a bit cluttered after so many responses and the library section of it seems well, empty. It would be nice to have a place we can put them up for easy viewing, maybe have a voting system put in, heck you could even have contests with the winner(s) earning special ship addons and what not.
For those of us who like to design our own ships (I'll assume its almost everybody), I have a question. How do you lable your ships in the ship design? Personally I use a system like this Smd-Ta1 (ship name/class) I I'll break it down from first ot last S = hull size (T, M, L, H for other sizes) m = missile weaonry (R for mass and L for beam) d = defensive shipe (a = attack) T = Terran hull a = first generation engines (i.e. +1 speed, B for
it only makes sense to have carrier type ships, space is just a big ocean
I would like to have a tab in the shipyard screen than allows you to see all of your player made ships. The reason is for organizational purposes. Now there already is a tab that allows you to see player ships but NOT the obsolete ones. Often times I will want to refer to a ship that I have made obsolete hours ago. I don't know how hard it would be to add a few of these next things but... I would like more control and organizational tools in the shipyard screen. <br
It's more of an issue of a wrong letter. Change the letter on the food production ability from M to B and it works out.
