Mhh... I think just attacking them should work ? I get a warning when I attack races I'm not yet at war with, so this might work the same.
Monele
I had the problem before the patch but now it's solved. Strange that it still doesn't work in your game :/
Just reposting this here since it seems a more appropriate place : I've noticed this twice now : a scout is destroyed in enemy territory and months after, I can still see that part of space clearly, as if the scout was still there. As least it seems like there's no fog of war at all. Can't say if I see units passing there or not.
I had tried the GC1 demo a while ago because I read a review about the diplomacy, minor races and "universe shattering" events in it. The demo didn't impress me that much though. Lately I went back to MOO2 and, somehow, found about GC2, thought that this time they really did it how I wanted it, and squealed at the close release date. Fastest buy ever, and oh boy am I happy with it <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" bord
I'm so there myself... The game doesn't really look line anything huge but... you just can't... stop...
Oh man! So I was not wrong in assuming that anomalies not respawning was kinda stupid ^^;... I really wondered what was the point of the "all ships get survey module" galactic wonder too... XD.
I've had the game crash on me yesterday after hours of playing. It started loading loudly from the hard disk during the last turns and then finally crashed. It does sound like a memory leak :/
I've only found 2 Corvettes in my latest game (the second one on Large map) but never saw any Ranger in any race's army... And I'm glad. Sounds like it should be a *rare* event.
According to the dev journals and the manual : Intelligent - The AI's economy is run at 100% of normal, AI expertly picks abilities and all known human tactics are searched and countered. It's the "no cheat" difficulty level where the AI gives all it's got.

Oh right! I really didn't spot the second one . Thanks guys, this served my last ship design
There is an option for tight/loose clusters and evenly spead stars. I've only tried Tight Clusters so far (which indeed leaves wide open spaces), but I think the other options should help.
I think it's pretty nice to mark a particularly strong enemy for example but I'm curious as to wether it was intended or not
The Topdown view is indeed the clearest one. All others are usually behind one of your ships and totally hides the enemy. The cinematic one just loops through the other styles. Not great. The free cam could be nice but moving around with the mouse is quite slow :/
I'm pretty sure it's a known bug. Obsolete ships are only hidden in the Shipyard screen for now.
If you're friendly with them and you have the following techs : Xeno Communications > Universal Translator > Interstellar Governments > Alliances (according to tech tree) there's no reason you shouldn't be able to make an alliance I'd say.
I thought it created .sdc files and that you needed SDC to reinstall these ?
Designing ships is a blast but I'm stuck when I want to do symmetry. There's a wing shaped like an L for the Terrans. When placed on the left of the ship it will curve down, and when placed on the right, it will curve up. I tried to rotate 90° twice but then I realized, while curving down, that it also leaned towards the front on one side and to the back on the other side. Any way to have perfectly mirrored parts ?
I second this question but I think the game needs registry keys to work (especially for the registration)
I had the same thing happening with a design containing many "rotate 90°" special parts. When upgrading it to fix this, I could not select any of the rotation parts or it would reset the design. Very strange.
Reinstalling SDCentral made the trick and the files were recognized as installed. I'm archiving as we speak. Can I delete the files in SDCentral/Stardock/TotalGaming/... to make some room ?
I've made the mistake of downloading the main files first and, when it failed half way through, download the other media files. I completed the main files later. Problem : the multimedia files are not considered as downloaded even though they *are* on the disk (I copied them in the game directory by hand and I can play the game with sound & movies). Any way I could avoid redownloading 1gb of data I already have ?...
I also tried the download option and got the same error message about maintenance. I suspect they're actually fixing the servers. All the other multimedia files, being on mirrors, went perfectly fine though.
