Stardock are going to release linux versions for all the games
My hopes exactly, even though it's extremly unlikely... which is unfortunate for us Linux users :(

Thanks for a great guide, I made a link to it from SoaSe [link="http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=6653"]wine appdb page[/link]. I'd appriciate it if people would send reports there about how well the game plays!
I was quite excited to hear that the 2nd expansion is on it's way out. However for those that both love galciv2 and are only on linux has the only option to wine it (legally, thanks to abscense of copy protection!). I'm a bit worried though on how modified the game engine is, since currently it just gained some stability in wine. Thus my question is, is it a slightly modified engine, or a whole new one? or is it "only" a really big mod for galciv2? Also, I wonder how big the ch
I thought to give some update with the Linux compatibility. I am now one of the supermaintainers for GalCiv2 at appdb and in order to get the game supported better, go to the [link="http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=9336"]Galciv2 wine page[/link]. There you can vote for the game. yes, this is similiar to cedegas voting - the more votes, the more chance that it will recieve extra effort to get working! Another thing thats really really really needed is g
I feel that i don't need to explain why I don't run / won't buy windows - just as little as you need to explain why you're driving the car you have.
Rejoice my linux friends! the latest wine build plays GalCiv2 nicely, without editing 52942 lines in the registery editor. check out http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=4493 And on a diffrent matter, i think it's very dissapointing that the developers dosen't see Linux as a potential platform... I hope that they'll atleast choose a wine-friendly programming enviorment for GalCiv3
Ah great, will try that out! one question though, does stardock work under wine? I don't have acess to a windows computer (it's on service)... So how do I install/update it if stardock dosen't work?
Holy ¡"@! Are you really serious?? Mind telling me how you did it (the install process and so on) so I can try it too? This would be really awesome if it works! yar, now I might consider buying the expansion too
I would definitely like to see an WINE/Cedega-friendly GalCiv2. But there's always the option of virtualisation, I suppose... To my knowlege, no virtualisation is possible since the game requires 3D accelerated graphics (and those aren't avaible on virtualisation software to my knowlege)
If you're a PC gamer, why don't you just have a partition with Windows XP installed on it? You'd have access to a lot more games and you won't have to run stuff in an emulator. Seriously. I'm not trying to be snide. I just don't understand why you wouldn't have a Windows XP partition. The answer is simple: I don't want, nor can I
