So can one do this with custom race home worlds?

I had the same thing happen. From the location on the star map I donated the ships from I can only assume that they were WELL out of range.
I still think blockadeing was great and should be used in any war simulation. Granted it would take some serious retooling but maybe keep it in mind when makeing the next game, I hope the fan base here is incentive enough for a little more money to be dumped into such a venture. I could see it as an option if you had warships (no troop transp
I would like to see prerequisites in some cases. For example: Starbase weapons and defenses. Even though I don't have any shield or mass driver tech I can equip my starbase with these. I would like to see these options enabled only when I have developed those types of tech. As it stands, in my current game, I should only be able to add missile batteries and armor plating since those there the offense and defensive techs I have researched. Just my 2 cents.
1 "fighter" can kill a Frigate!?! Hey don't forget, Luke blew up the freakin' Death Star with one fighter
Are you sure you are trying to modify your custom hull designs? It is my understanding that you can't change the "core" designs in the shipyard.
When you go to the shipyard screen, select an existing design (custom design). Make changes and then save. Use the same name for this newer ship and you will be given a screen to upgrade. There is a check box that says "upgrade all ships of this type". Be VERY careful not to upgrade your ships while engaged in a war with enemies in the area. Your ships hull points (or is it hit points) are reduced to 1 while upgrading (can take a couple of turns in some cases). I had a couple of
So, I am making a custom race and there are tons of options such as : Bravery (+10%) Morale (+10%) courage (+10%) Umm, the descriptions are nice and all but are they basically the same thing? Also, I have a ton of +hp type stuff but my ships don't seem to reflect this. Is there some resource I can look at that explains some of these items with their in game advantages?
Accidental breakthroughs? I thought that was what "creative" did? If not, what DOES it do?
I would like to be able to add multiple custom races in a game (instead of only one in the game and the rest being "preset" races).
So miniaturization still sounds useful. I mean, a ship with 50 'units' would go to 55 with only a 10% bonus (yes, I know, stand in awe of my amazing math skills). The cap is only +50% (not including racial bonuses) when developing all techs in that field?
I had the prison break on one of my worlds. The pirates had two ships ( a heavy fighter and a frigate). The odd part was that they had better tech than my military! They chased one of my fighter groups until I brushed them off on another empire's fleet.
Loved the story Ashenai. I just wished you had included galactic maps, ship pics and such things like the devs did. Hey, I have to criticize SOMETHING
Yes it does make sense. I had the same thing happen to my fighter class. I simply upgraded the weapons and defenses throughout the game. Whenever I built replacement fighters, the starports always built the lowest tech ones. VERY annoying. When I upgrade, shouldn't the older model no longer be buildable?
So can we have multiple custom races? I would like to be able to select from a list of them, or play against some that I made myself (without having to change existing ones).
"Asfor Hall of Empathy ("doubles the odds that alien civilizations will surrender to you when they decide to surrender"), if they already decided to surrender... why do I need double the odds" Well, they might not surrender to YOU. I was crushing the Terrans. When I was preparing to take Earth. they surrendered their planet to the Torians instead of allowing me to take it.
Will they potentially be added to the sand box mode like the Alterans (is that correct?) from MOO2?
Here is my example: The Yor begin with the Ion Drive. In order to research more advanced tech, do I have to research the techs between the hyper drive and ion drive to go to the next one or can I use the ion drive level of tech and just go forward from there?
When you develop a new hull type, weapon, ect you get a "core" ship that uses that new tech. If you want to take the new tech (in this case hull size) and outfit it with your best stuff, you have to design the ship yourself.
Exellent. Thanks a bunch. Hope it isn't too late for me...
I tried to invade a planet and they appear to have planetary shields (there is a shield icon in the lower right corner of the planet). How can I bypass this? The AI has managed to develop massive beam weapons and tons of armor in a matter of a couple of years and my ships of the line are no longer the cat's meow. I can crush this empire if only I can bypass their planetary shields (or whatever is keeping my troop transports from initiating a planetary assault). Thanks!
"Star Wars Rebellion - interesting approach but ultrimately lacking / conquering planets via political debates? WTF! Send in the stormtroopers!" I always sent in the Dark Troopers actually. As the empire I ignored the political debates and left a garrison.
I did the same thing early game. I used a freighter hull, added TONS of sensors and some engines. I was able to recon a huge area and send out a fleet of colony ships ASAP.
The last game I played regarding galactic conquest was... hmm, someone help me with a timeline. I played Master of Orion Acendency Pax Imperia Some Star Wars game about 5 years ago (which was ok but nothing special) Imperium Galactica Of them Master of Orion was my favorite but Imperium Galactica had the best combat of all. Now I take a LONG break from this type of game because nothing strikes me as any good. Let's just say when I came to this we
Right. Did you ever watch Star Trek Deep Space Nine? The Bajorins (sp?) had "fighters". They were actually pretty big with a crew of a 1/2 dozen or so (MUCH larger than an X-Wing). These are called "heavy fighters" in GC2 since it is a smaller hull than a frigate. There is discussion about "fighter swarms" that could be launched from pods on capital ships. These would be more in line with x-wings, ties, ect.
