My problem is that the AI gets way ahead in many techs but never seems to research larger hulls. They stop at heavy fighters or frigates with awesome weapons but never go larger. As a result I send in big ships with tons of weaker weapons but good defenses and wipe them out.

Using freighters as commerce raiders during war is a viable option. As mentioned above putting sensors, engines and a single weapon on a transport allows for a long range, high speed and decent seneor ship that can attack enemy shipping at will. It is cheaper than using a ship of the line for such duty and is faster and more manuverable than a smaller fighter class ship. With good sensors it also doubles as an AWACs type vessel (man, my "Peeping Tom" class of ships have saved me more than once a

Is it me or do the "good" options never result in bonuses? I recall one about some native animal life forms. Allowing mass hunting resulted in a +3% morale boost. Why not have a neutral or good option that allowed them to be caged in a zoo for all to enjoy (perhaps a + approval bonus). The good options don't seem to benefit the empire other than what other good races think of you.

What has not been addressed was the enemy sending one fighter at a time against my starbase it had no hope of defeating. I think they lost about 10 heavy fighters this way before I took the planet.

cheap upgrades Cheap? No it shouldn't be cheap. Cheaper than it is? I would say yes, it is too exepensive. Balance cost with time to upgrade. If I can build a much better version off the same hull in 8 turns, then make the upgrade cost 50% of the new ship and take 1/2 the time (just a very simplistic example). Upgrading a ship type should be

Its entirely a superficial change, but it would greatly help the game's backstory, realism, and allow the player to feel more immersed in Galciv 2's world (in other words, it would feel much less "gamey"). I have won my first two games in under 10 years. It makes absolutely no sense that a race could go from 5 billion taxpayers on one planet to ruling hundreds of worlds,

Alien influence. other cultures slowly swaying your population to their beliefs. check the planet details. there is sometimes a local citizen quote and it might mention another race in it (like "well it's nice here but I think the Tolians have a lot to offer")

I like hot seat but would prefer LAN so both can see combat unfold that they are involved in. I remember a dev post about the fact they had time and money to either do multiplayer or the ship creator. Polls were taken and people prefered the ship creator. I totally agree with the decision. I have a couple of friends who would play multiplayer but the time I would play single player WAY out does it. Ship creator rocks! (I just stink at using it <img src="http://images.stardock.com

Stealth is a better term in my opinion. Perhaps compare it to sensor "jamming". Each "level" of jamming reduces an opponents sensor ability to detect the ship at range. The top power could be a cloaking device. Have it act as a top end jammer but also allows the ships to strike 1st even if they do not start the battle. Perhaps one ship per fleet would need these jamming pods to affect the entire fleet.

Planetary invasion is too easy in my book. I have had successful invasions where I had MUCH lower tech and be out numbered greatly. I wish they would give more overall information when invading (like each sides soldier bonus and such things). More information guys, that's all I ask. Also, the AI is easily able to invade my planets even though I have racial solider bonuses, tons of planetary defense techs, planetary defense buildings, etc. Is there any more information available on the subje

Well the pure military rating is a "best guess" on their power. Remember the 1st Gulf War? The military was talking about how huge the Iraqi army was. On paper it was a beast but in practice it was out dated and poorly trained. In game terms they would have had a huge military but as many of you posted, your fewer but more powerful vessels made short work of them.

"Oh, man, they had to put out 2 'patches' in the first week to get that thing good." Working in the software industry myself, we call these "too frequent" patches "feature updates"

So I decided to do the smart thing: RTFM - Read the .. Manual. Here is a breakdown: 1.) Courage gives a bonus to the attack value of your ships when you are fighting against an opponent who has a higher score than you. The degree of the advantage is based on how far ahead your opponent is. This one differs from the in game description. 2.) Morale adds to the morale rating for EACH of your colonies, making it less likely that you'll suffer the effects of low mor
