Reply to Hero Recruitment in War of Magic Stardock Forums

There seems to be a limited number of heroes available in each game. It seems in my experience that the new higher level heroes spawn because of Adventure research only if one of the lower level types has been removed from the pool thus freeing up space. And even then there is no guarantee that they will spawn near you rather than near one of your opponents. You can test this out by using the cheat which removes Fog of War on the whole map and then just watch the hero spawning.

[/quote] Well that would be a kick in the teeth, since I cast Beserk specifically to get the boost in attack power to try and get past the higher defence.

That would work for me. I wouldn't mind if my arrows were hitting but doing little damage to a high armour target. The complete whiffs were a little disconcerting.

Thanks for the explanation. That seems a little more random than I like - I would have hoped that with a superior attack I would have had a better chance to hit him than seems to be the case. I literally went through 12 attacks without a single hit. It seems like you are completely at the mercy of the random number generator.

Having Trouble Understanding the Combat System in War of Magic Stardock Forums

I assume that I am just dense, but I am having difficulty understanding how the combat system works. In a recent game, I attacked an enemy city defended by two squads with respective defence ratings of 22 and 32. In my stack I had a couple of archer units - I cast Beserk on both of my archer units providing respective attack ratings of 30 and 40. Neither of my archer units could hit the two enemy squads. Can someone explain to me the math behind the combat system? At the moment, I am complete

Did I understand you correctly that you are playing on "Easy" difficulty level? There are two levels below easy - "Beginner" and "Novice" - have you tried dialing back to one of those levels? I found that dialing back to "Novice" at least gave me some time to explore some of the possibilities in the game - although even at that level the AI won't leave you alone forever.

Freeze up in Tactical Battle in WOM Support Stardock Forums

I had a situation last night where I went to move a unit in a tactical battle and it seemed to get stuck in some kind of loop - i.e. the unit's feet were moving but it wasn't leaving its starting square. My only way out was to hit the auto-resolve button - which resulted in me losing the battle.

The targeting on the city buff spells like Nature's Bounty is really finicky. I have found that it works fine for me if I do two things: a) Sovereign is outside of the city when he casts; and b) I zoom in fairly close to the city before casting.

Looking for help with Upgrading Soldiers in War of Magic Stardock Forums

Is it possible to upgrade the equipment on existing soldiers? e.g if I train a unit of Peasants and then subsequently research the Warfare tech which gives me broadswords - can I re-equip my units of Peasants with the broadswords? I have not been able to find the ability to do this. Is it possible and if so how do I do it?

Mr. Chick is entitled to his opinion and what's more he is entitled to spread it across the Internet for all to read. However, I am also entitled to my opinion - and based on my past experience Stardock has earned enough of my trust to get my pre-order for this game. Mr. Chick's past reviews have not given me enough confidence that his views of a game will match my own for him to have earned the same level of trust from me.
