One piece of advice: build a deterrent fleet at some early point. Not one you mean to use, but some stopgap motley of ships not meant to leave orbit to increase your military score. Once you do, the AI won't be as eager to attack you thinking that you'll be easy pickings.

Hey folks, I suspect I'll need to wait for a new version of the beta for this, but maybe there's a setting/workaround out there that anyone knows about. As we all know, when playing the Twilight expansion, the game will eventually freeze when hitting end turn - or rather, the end turn button will never pop back up. It's gotten so bad for me that over the holiday weekend, I haven't been able to complete a single game (out of, maybe, 8) without this happening. Loading from an aut

Playing on beginner is a) apparently too easy for you and b) reinforces bad habits, so that you're helpless on even normal. Increase difficulty and force yourself to learn and adapt, and the game'll become more enjoyable. The too much money problem won't be as evident either.

There's a very simple solution, as Zix mentioned. Anytime apptoval on one of my planets dips below 40%, I build 2-3 transports, launch and destroy them in orbit. Approval shoots to 100% and the problem is solved. If you're colonizing or in a war then you can even use these transports rather than blow them up. Bottom line, the Tsars had the right idea about shipping the malcontents out.

Having played the game, I can say with absolute certainty that defense is just as important as offense. In fact, it might be more important. in 3v3 (small fleet) battles, for example, a 6/6 fleet will usually take out a 12/0 fleet with no casualties, or losing a single ship. Play & see -)

They really are awesome, aren't they? Only other software company I can think of (other than the one I work for, actually) as concerned with customers & getting it right is probably Paradox. Which just happens to be Stardock's distributor!
