It pisses me off that people generate "random" maps only to reload it about 5 times to get a good starting position. Folks, it's called RANDOM for a reason! If you don't like the starting position, use a static map.
Now Mr. Dynasties and Sea Travel is going to tell other people how to enjoy the game? Jam3 thanks so much for this mod. I'm finally getting maps that are fun to play. Now if you could replace all those stupid cliffs with beaches.....
Quoting psychoak, reply 19 I see little room for comparison between the two games. They're both turn based strategy games made by Stardock with customizable units that include out-of-planet/city resources that improve your civilization and also outposts/starbases that extend your influence, and minor threats (minor races vs. wilderness) that can be exploited for in-game advantages.
To put the score into context, the site and same reviewer rated Civilization V: Gods & Kings just a quarter-point higher at 8.5, and Warlock: Master of the Arcane one and a half points lower at 6.75. Very respectable score indeed!
The Warlock review was bullshit, as Brad himself pointed out. Good to see Fallen Enchantress did well though. :)
This type of AI behaviour reminds me a lot of the Gal Civ 2 AI... The more I read stuff about the game the more I get the idea that this is Gal Civ 2 in a fantasy world + rpg elements....?
I felt the same as you regarding GalCiv, and there is definitely a GalCiv vibe going here. However, in my opinion I think the RPG elements help give this game more personality. And regarding expansion - yeah. I
I've read a couple of player reviews there were low on metacritic and it seems that people think because the races have similar looks that they're the same and that since your settlement gets attacked if you don't protect it and you lose that the game is bad.
I've only played Tarth so far, so I can't comment on the differentiation of races. But the second point... the other current TBS games that come to my mind are Civ 5 and War

It's not a "review", it is "impressions". If he's attacking with no weapon, maybe the issue is with the game not being informative enough for new players to realize how to equip a weapon. (Paper doll would go a LONG way toward solving this and be more consistent with the RPG style of ruler/champions). I finally realized that if my turn doesn't auto-advance, then a city is idle. I never notice the stuff on the right side of the screen. <
Try right clicking on game, and running as administrator. Start a new game and see if trees are there. Should only have to start as admin one time. Old save games may still not have trees.
That sorted it! Thanks Leo - truly appreciate it. :)

I think I had this same problem in an earlier beta and resolved it, but I can't remember how. Very simply put: trees are not appearing on the world map. I think some other stuff might be missing too, but the trees are most noticeable. Probably something simple I'm missing....
And why didn't he start his own thread, since his problem is different from that of the OP, and doesn't even reflect the thread's title? It's easy to get overlooked if you attach your complaint to someone else's--and that much more likely, if it's a different complaint, entirely.
But my original comment WAS in regards to the opening post. Anyway, SDC got it so
It's not often talked about but there's something around 100,000 people who are going to be getting this game for free and it matters a great deal to me that they are happy with it.
Well I'm only 1/100k but I'll let you know. har har. Seriously, I've been avoiding the betas for awhile now because I wanted to start fresh when the full release came. Pretty exciting that it'
Fun game, but it suffers from "high level monsters appear suddenly right in the middle of your empire because we can't get the computer AI to put up a decent fight" syndrome.
Funny. I know of another TBS fantasy game that does that.
