I haven't been able to get any autosaved games to load. These were local multiplayer games, and the autosaves showed up but when the other party tries to join the loaded game they get the error "Saved Game not found: AutoSave-16" or whatever the number is. The autosave files do show up on their computer though, so it seems like it just doesn't recognize the saved game files as belonging to the restarted game.

OK, you were right about the need to patch, but after patching the issues haven't changed. You're right about pirates and bounty, just felt like it wasn't a per-turn random choice for the pirates, so ignore the pirates issue. Anyways, yeah, issues still persist after updating to 0.83[b].030. Ship positions freeze momentarily on local multiplayer, and after ~70 min the client computer on disconnected. Actually, I just noticed that I still get those same error messages when tryi
I've been trying to play multiplayer games on my LAN, it always crashes or disconnects before we make much progress in a game. I feel the ship positions/order status freezes every 15 minutes or so during a multiplayer game, possible lag or sync issues. I've had a couple games die because the host has its Graphics Adapter reset during play (no error messages, CtrlAltDel to end task). Also the client computer has disconnected randomly after about 40 minutes of game play, with no error messages, it
Pirates AI is still off. The pirates always attack the weaker player in a two player local multiplayer game. At the beginning when two players are closer together in power it can go either way, but the player with a clear lead seems to not get any pirate attacks! A little unfair.
Played several LAN games today. All of them crashed after about 2 hours or less. Host: Core 2 Duo 6600 2.5 GHz - 2GB RAM - GeForce 7600 GS 512mb - Vista 32bit Client: Pentium M 1.86GHz - 512MB RAM - Radeon Mobility X600 - XP So, on both computers the movement of ships stalls for a few seconds at a time, while the UI is still reacting. The game comes out of that usually. I have had persistent issue with the display adapter restarting in Vista with this card ever since Beta 2
I don't like the idea of charging money for phase jumps because when u have a large fleet jumping to wipe out ur enemy if u get bombed into nothing then u now have no money to rebuild ur fleet! then ur screwed. I agree with that reasoning, this supply/logistics r
Good! This is a vital game mechanic, and so fundamental to the way the game is played, you would lose a lot of that focus if you dropped it. Removing it would make this a different game entirely.
I like it. Supply lines, maybe. More realistically it would be the limitation on command and control distances. Rationalization being: Dang it costs a lot of money (antimatter) to boost our communications signals all the way to that system or star. Then make the intersteller broadcast upgrade/research drop the costs.
have you researched PSIDAR? Aha! Apparently not.
It took me a while to realize that those icons were notifying me of new messages - so much happens that they really got lost, never clicked on them when I was busy playing. What's wrong with the approach from Gal Civ II? Stacking icons up the right side of the screen - mouseover to show details. Have them expire after 10 sec, or when full. Click brings you directly to the planet / ship the alert is referring to, maybe even into camera follow mode if it's a ship! Which I really don't use for any
Wouldn't it make the most sense to attach fleet formations to the capital ships abilities? As your capitals level you get new fleet formations - and it's not even really formations that are important here, it's the logic of a certain number of defensive ships need to stick with a certain ratio of offensive ships. Carriers and capitals stick to the center, fighter/bombers can either be in offensive or screen mode. Give most of the ships more countermeasures, put some flak and point defense on eve
