So remind me again why we can't just take a situation for what it is? I mean, the scoring affects everyone equally, so wether or not you understand how it is calculated or not, it is still a level playing field. If the only reason you are playing a MV game is for competition, then... it's still a competition. It's not like someone else knows a secret and can better the system to your disadvantage. I admit that it is not easy to understand how the scores are calculated,

Factories and a starport. I Use it to pump out constructors or other small ships throughout the game.
I prefer to think of it as engine technology, not specific engines. You research enough technology to go X speed, and then the specific engines with that technology are scaled to the ship size. Smaller ships get smaller engines. Think of it this way: A Boeing 777 and a Boeing 737 go about the same speed. One could argue that they have the same engine technology (turbo fans). Both have 2 engines, but the ones on the 777 are much bigger
CivFanatics for me too.... Gotta love word of mouth!
Forwarded Message from W.I.N.T.E.R (a poor concerned soul who can't seem to get logged on here :SNIFF!: ) from another forum: Hello everyone, Since I don't seem to be able to register at galcivII's homepage (I never seem to get my activation email ) I'm hereby making a request to be forwarded to Darth Kryo to develop his excellent mod insofar as to add the max frame coordinate size cap for ingame unit display, for each partic
I usually go the Starport and Factories route. I can then forget about the planet improvements, and just let it crank out smaller ships and constructors... even if it takes a while for each ship, it is still worth it!
Just curious of other's playing styles. When you come upon a minor civ, do you kill/take their planet or befriend them, and why?
Look at it this way... at least we don't have the bazillion "XYZ is so HOT!!!!!" posts here, like in some other forums for another recently released turn based strategy game... But I do agree that some female leaders would be good for at least the humanoid races.
Not sure if these have been mentioned elsewhere - if they have, my apologies. After downloading the patch on Satruday evening, I noticed the following things happeing that did not happen to me pre-patch: 1.) Starfleet ghost images showing up over planets. A minor race in my game had it's fleet displayed in the same sector as it's planet. Not sure if it was left over from a battle, or if it was a real fleet. 2.) Tech Tree no longer showing up! I can no longer see t
